Minor Leagues Deleted Each Year in Historical Replay

I'm using OOTP 23 on Linux Steam, trying to run a historical simulation replay. However, if I use minor leaguers by enabling that option in the league wizard, I run into a problem. Immediately after each season, the entire minor league system (whether I have one or two or more leagues) is deleted. Has anyone else seen this issue?

Can explain with more detail? You import real minor leagues (1915+) or you skip that in the Wizard and instead elect what levels of minor leagues you want in the league? What other customizations were done to the default set-up of the Historic League? And what year was it set in?

What season was this? Were you using the real historical minors option, or did you create your own minor leagues? When using real historical minors, there are changes to the minor league structure and affiliations each season, and teams can have their minor league affiliates "disappear" or new affiliates suddenly appear, and you may need to manage rosters accordingly. But I've never seen an entire league disappear, although I suppose that could happen when certain minor leagues merged or became defunct in past decades in real life.

Re: Settings

I've tried this multiple ways and get the same result. I use the Historical Replay Wizard I check the box for using minor and Negro league players (1915+). I choose 1915 as the starting year. There are no minor leagues created. (I have tried setting the database path to point to the minors database and leaving it as-is). So, I create a Triple A feeder myself. But then, every year, once the offseason starts, the minor league is deleted.

I have also tried using years before and after 1915 as the starting year, and it's the same. Let's say I start at 1913, with no minors. When I reach 1915 and beyond, there are still no minors. Let's say I start at 1913 and create my own Triple A league. Every new offseason, it's gone. Same goes if I start at say 1920. No minors. I create my own. Deleted offseason.

The first minor league (assuming the color barrier is on and no NeL leagues are considered), is the Federal League. Then the Texas League should show up around 1919. But the TX league, for example, mostly wasn't affiliated in the way we think of minor leagues today. In a few instances, there was affiliation - but that is case by case. The first affiliation is Detroit which had a TX league team.

In the OOTP folder, search for the file "MiLB Teams". Open it in excel and you can see each league, team and affiliation.

If the game is auto-evolving, it will delete yours because each season it loads the info from that s/s. You are probably used to that in the modern era as the minor league teams match each year to their real life moves/affiliations - but back then, the fact there are none affiliated with team X, Y and Z is the correct historical worldview to load.

If you want imagined, fictional AAA and AA teams, etc for teams back then, don't select the "real minors" toggle box and you should be fine.

Re: editing the file

Ah man, that makes sense. Me dumb. Love it.

Last question. If I edit that csv, will the minor league structure evolve from the edits in that file? Or is it pulling from another location and that's just a reference file?

I think it is just that file, but there are others more knowledgeable than me about the minors in OOTP. As a rule, the less you edit, the better, in case it does crosswalk to other things. Maybe just change the affiliation column from IND to the abbreviation of the teams you want to have affiliates. In either case, backup the game and save an unedited version of the file to put back in case this go off the rails.

When you create your game, OOTP does not pull directly from the csv files. So, for example, if you make changes to the 1919 Texas League teams' affiliations, and you start your game with the 1919 season, those changes won't be reflected in your game (but changes you made for 1920 would be included, when you get there). However, if you start your game prior to 1919, then when you get to 1919, OOTP will read from the csv files and your changes will be reflected.

Hope that makes sense

Oh, and always test this stuff out first... And be sure to make a backup of your milbteams.csv file before making any changes

Yes, I tried that and it works. But you have to edit both the milbteams and the milbleagues csv files.

Thanks!
