Strange Problems with Historical Game Creation
This might not be a bug as much as it's a conflict between a setting and the game setup wizard. I tried creating a 1916 historical game where I've chosen to use real historical minors, but I manually added two AAA minor leagues using the wizard's advanced mode, with affiliates set for each MLB club. Otherwise, the game does not create minor leagues until later, when it starts adding minor leagues in 1919.
However, when I finished creating the game, the AAA minor league teams showed that they were affiliated with MLB clubs, but they had no players on their rosters. All MLB teams were using reserve rosters instead, and all players were on those reserve rosters. No players were on any MLB 25-man roster. Spring training is disabled, and I've never seen this behavior in any past version of OOTP, even though this is the first time I have tried to add early minors in this way. But that would not explain why MLB teams aren't starting the game with players on their 25-man roster. I'm trying to create an early historical game using the historical minors database but with the manual addition of a couple of minor leagues, so MLB teams can assign players to the minors and not use reserve rosters. However, I have tried multiple ways of using the game creation wizard and advanced mode, and I can't get anything to work correctly. Last edited by Charlie Hough; 03-21-2023 at 08:26 PM. |

Things have gotten worse with this. I just repeated this same process to create a 1916 historical game and also add two AAA minor leagues affiliated with MLB. This time, MLB teams don't have reserve lists, which is good, and the minor league teams and affiliations are in place. However, MLB teams are missing some of their players, but they can't be found on their minor league affiliate rosters, even though searches for those players show that they exist in the game and that they're with their minor league teams!
Screenshots are attached to show one example, Harry Chapman, who was not on the St. Louis Browns roster, so I searched for him and found his profile, which says he is with the Browns' AAA affiliate, but that affiliate's roster shows no players at all. There is no one on its roster or injured list. And this player does not appear anywhere in the Browns' organization in the Browns' roster views and options. I will bundle and upload my saved game and post an update here once I've completed that. Last edited by Charlie Hough; 03-22-2023 at 04:45 PM. |

I've uploaded the saved game .dat files. They are bundled in a zip file called 1916 Test.zip.
