Match engine problems

Hi,

When playing with 3d match engine, the players in the field keep randomly disappearing. Sometimes it's the pitcher, sometimes batter, sometimes a fielder... Sometimes all of the players. I've changed graphics settings and have tried setting everything to minimum. The game runs smoothly aside from the disappearing players. Tried all the available OpenGL modes.

In 2D, if I use Default OpenGL mode the screen keeps going blank (black screen) and may take a minute to return the image. And after next play it goes blank again. This problem seems to get fixed when using "Use OpenGL in 3D only".

I'm using HP Elitebook laptop with the latest graphics drivers (31.0.101.2111, 19.7.2022) . It has integrated circuit Intel HD Graphics 515. Supported OpenGL is 4.6. Game version is 24.1 Build 39 (Steam)

I've been playing OOTP 23 with the same computer and never had any such graphics problems.

There are a couple things to try here.

The first step would be to make sure to update your video card drivers.

The next step would be to make sure that there are no issues with the installation of the game.

You can do this by opening the game and on the main screen, going to settings > troubleshooting > then hit the button to 'force game data reinstallation'. Or if you're on Steam, go to the Steam client, then right click on OOTP 24 and go to 'properties' > 'local files' > 'verify integrity of game files'.

If those steps still don't work and you see the disappearing players again, then please turn on debug mode as per the instructions in the link below and send us the resulting trace file from the game up to the point where the players start disappearing (before you close out or restart the game). Thanks!

I can also confirm that the blank screen problem in 2D mode happens with another computer also, which is a powerful gaming PC (Core i9 / RTX 2080TI / 32GM Ram). Again, gets fixed when using "OpenGL in 3D only"

Thanks for the additional info. If we can get a trace file from you as per my post above, that would be a big help in figuring out the cause and fixing this up.

I've been playing more and unfortunately the game crashes during almost every match played in 3D Modern or 3D classic mode. Usually the problems start by the players disappearing and then at some point "blue circle" and crash to desktop.

Playing in 2D Modern, 2D classic or Webcast seems to be OK as long as I have OpenGL disabled for 2D, but can't play the game with 3D as of now.

So sounds like definitely connected to OpenGL, but at least my laptop should have the minimum requirements to use it. 3D works with good FPS even with full detail on, until the game crashes.

After the .42 update things are looking promising. 2D works in OpenGL mode and no crashes so far after maybe 10 exhibition games.

Some of the fielders were still disappearing but after changing some graphics settings (adding shadows, anisotropic filtering etc.) I haven't gotten disappearing fielders anymore either.

Thanks for the quick fix guys
