weird roster and injury bug(s)
I am replaying the 2022 Mets season with (Steam) OOTP24. Played 2nd game. Playing historical lineups. Two huge issues:
-I choose to have the normal 26 man roster, but my current, full roster (3rd game of season) has 33 players on it to choose from. How? It should only have 26. I'm GM and manager, and did not make any roster size changes. I had 26 players going into game 2, but suddenly have 33 players going into game 3! -I used Edwin Diaz to close out my 2nd game, which he did (getting the save). But nothing in the box score, or game log, shows he was injured during his 9th inning or after the game. Yet beginning with the 3rd game, it shows he's out for 255 days with a "body injury". to make matters more confusing, I DON'T even have injuries enabled for my season! Wouldn't it show HOW he was injured or THAT he was injured in the game log after game 2 was finished? He's out for THIS season (2023) due to the insane WBC, but 2022? He was the best closer in the game and wasn't injured once during the regular season that I remember. |

This doesn't sound related to Perfect Team, you probably want to post this in the bug forums for the base game.
https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...lay.php?f=4044 It is possible that they put the new injury into the transactions database with the wrong year or something. |

If you are using historical transaction, players who are hurt will generally be placed on the injured list with a tag of 255. They will be reactivated when they returned in real life

Sorry, I had posted this in the wrong forum initially.
--Matt: thanks for the tip, but I checked (starting up game 3): Diaz is DEFINITELY not available for me for 255 games. Also, I did check BBREF.com, and Diaz was never on the IL in 2022, and he was with the team since 2019 and all of last season.SO he never was injured last year (2022). Plus: if I didn't have injuries enabled, wouldn't it be impossible for him to be injured anyway? Maybe I'm misunderstanding what NOT checking "enable injuries" means. And to Rain King's point: since Diaz IS out for the entire 2023 season in real life, is it possible the OOTP24 team mistakenly placed him on the IL for 2022 (and if THAT was the case, he should not have been able to pitch for me in game 2). I'm confused :-) But no, I do NOT have him available for game 3. I think something is buggy here. Diaz was the best closer in all of baseball (arguably) in 2022, and he SHOULD have remained available for me for ALL of 22 ...especially if I did NOT have injuries enabled. --The expanded roster issue (from 26 to 33 players inexplicably between games 2 and 3) is also making me scratch my head. If you are using historical transactions and lineups, the rosters may vary (as players are sometimes activated a little before they actually appeared, it's hard to get exact roster sizes daily).
<had my dates wrong so will slyly edit this so nobody sees me make a mistake>. Sometimes players in the DB will be tagged with injuries for temporary situations, even if they may not have missed actual time in real life (I do somewhat remember him being hurt in the pre-season, but he returned in time for opening day, I think?). So in your game, he should return in a day or two. You can check in the league transactions page, the historical transactions tab has a list of everything that will be done - you can search by player in there to see what is tagged in the system. Fair enough, thank you. Loving the game so far, otherwise. I'm still not an OOTP "expert" even after playing countless hundreds of games with it with every version since OOTP 16!

IRL, Diaz was on the bereavement list for a few days in early April.

It's a catch all for any time the player was not on the roster in real life, when you use the real lineups mode, to keep them out of games they weren't available for. It could be they had an injury, paternity leave, bereavement leave, whatever. The 255 is just part of the description, it doesn't mean they'll be out for 255 games. In Diaz's case, he was on the bereavement list from April 8th to April 12th in 2022. That's why he's out for you. He'll be back on April 12th, when he came back in real life

Got it! I learn more about the game every day. I had completely forgotten about his "Bereavement List" trip last season. My bad. THanks for all the answers and hints. LIke I said, I learn more about OOTP every day.
