Pro/Rel Setup help

I have a very specific question first, but it's possible that the answer to my question is irrelevant if I'm doing everything wrong in my setup.

Simple Question:
Can I transfer an entire team's Roster/Staff from a team in the MLB League to a team in my fictional league?

Backstory to see if I'm just going about this all wrong:
I'm wanting to create a pro/rel league of all real teams.
Top tier is the top 16 MLB teams -- I created a spreadsheet based on the past 3 years to determine the team rankings.
I created a standard sim to start. Then went to Global Actions and created a new League with these 16 teams. It ported the logos and colors correctly but created random rosters. So for example, I wanted to take the Astros from the original MLB league and just transfer the entire team to the Fictional League, moving the fake astros to the original MLB and so on. Once my top two tiers were fully swapped I was just going to delete the original MLB league entirely.

It's definitely possible, even likely, that I'm going about this all wrong. I read a smattering of articles and watched several videos about setting up pro/rel leagues and while I want to do it somewhat differently than most, it seemed like most people set up a standard game, added their new league, and then deleted the original league. Is this correct?

Under League Settings --> Functions there is an option to "Edit League Structure".

This area will allow you to move teams between leagues.
