Duplicate Players Created by AI in OOTP24

Hi all. In a newly-created OOTP game, the AI keeps creating duplicate players. Multiple versions of the same player are getting created and placed in the free agent list. Two, three or four versions of the same player will show up. They are identical in terms of description (age, height, weight, date of birth, etc.) but have varying ratings. I can't see any reason why some players are duplicated and others not. There are hundreds of them. The AI seems to treat them as distinct players. For example, during a player draft the same player will be picked by the AI multiple times for different teams. Do I somehow have the settings messed up in a way that is allowing the AI to do this?

Have no idea what is going on. I've certainly never seen it in any OOTP game that I've played. Best guess is OOTP didn't install all files properly.

I would either uninstall and reinstall OOTP, or if it's a Steam version there is an option to verify the files installed. I think under properties in your Steam library. Start a game and see if it fixes your issues.

After that, if it's not fixed, I'd report in the bugs section and file a ticket.

I was running into this same issue last night and couldn't find anything for it!

I did some investigating, and it turns out that the game was making duplicates of the leagues, and that was duplicating the players. To check, if you go to the "MLB" drop down at the top, you should see only one copy of each league (I was seeing two of each league).

It kept happening as I started new saves, and the best that I can figure out is that it's because I was "Applying Template" at the beginning of the save, and that was duplicating it. When I didn't do that, the issue went away. Not sure if it's helpful for you, but maybe there's an issue along this line that could help.

Cerealcomma, you hit the nail on the head. I checked the MLB tab and found that the AI had created 4 parallel leagues, like parallel universes, in which players showed up on different teams. That also explained another bizarre phenomenon I was seeing: I would get notified of player trades that made no sense in my league, including ones by the team for which I as the human manager. And when I would delete duplicate players in my league, they would show up again out of the blue, and I noticed they would have different player id numbers. I'll try your "applying template" tip and see what happens. The next question is, once I do that, can I delete the parallel leagues and get back to just one universe I need to work with.
