Wish list for ONLINE leagues for FHM 10
This is intended to be a place for online league members to list issues they feel need to be corrected or enhancements to make running and playing an online league more enjoyable.
I think it would be helpful to have this thread focus on Online play needs. It would be useful if online players and commissioners chime in here to let the powers that be understand that there is an online community struggling to enjoy FHM. I'll gather up our list and add below. We are a historical fictional league using NHL format, playing in 1947 at the moment. |

A few items to start, from our league:
A holding spot (DFA) for signed players to commish does not have to pause the sim every time there is a roster move. Ability to offer contracts and sign staff without forcing commish to have to do it. An easy way to import league file within the game. A way to have GMs influence Coach's line and dressing decisions. Have messages marked read or deleted stay that way when an exported file is updated. More follow up on issues that arise from buyout/relinquishing rights and signing FAs or draftees within one sim. Typically leagues sim a week at a time. These transactions should happen so as not to cause the game to crash causing the commish to redo transactions one at a time. Look into issues with the Budgets so that the game doesn't crash during a weeklong sim if the AI causes a budget issue. Last edited by tward13; 06-26-2023 at 01:45 PM. |

And another one. Give the commissioner the power to run the draft and have teams pass on selecting from his own log-in. Why does the commissioner need to be logged in as the drafting team's GM in order to do anything. Commissioner-mode should be an override to act for any and all teams in the draft screen.

Maybe more simply, Commissioner mode should allow the commissioner to do anything on behalf of a team's GM. The Commish should not have to sign on as a GM.

This would be huge. If at least making roster moves (promotions/demotions) and line changes were possible, that would save plenty of time during simulations.

Thank you tward13 for starting this thread and good to see that there are other commissioners out there who have ideas for improving the online league mode in FHM!
I also think it should be mentioned that there have been good improvements to online league play over the past few iterations of the game. The addition of the goalie start chart was a great one, for example. Some ideas from my end: - Ability for GMs to make the injury deferral choice themselves instead of AI. Could it be made in the same way that jersey number change requests news items are done? Those messages stay in the inbox for the GM to make a decision later. - Fix injury counter for players sent to IR via teamfiles. The counter is always at zero. - Enable control over minor league teams. I realize there might be technical limitations here but there are several GMs in our league who would like more control over their minor league teams. - Option to disable the finances feature. This is causing issues for us while simming, especially the annual finances on July 1. Not specifically related to multiplayer but still relevant: - Player contracts expire on or around June 22, or a temporary increase in the contract limit by, for example, 5 contracts, similar to the offseason salary cap cushion. This would enable GMs to sign draftees with expiring rights during the Jun 23-30 window, without having to move contracts. - Complete freeze on Free Agent signings between July 1 and the draft, to prevent Free Agency from starting before the draft. - Improved contract extension feature. I have been on about this before and I think there have been improvements in this area in FHM9. However there are still some things to refine. One is that unproven pending RFAs coming off their ELCs often ask for 3-year deals and need to be negotiated into accepting 1- or 2-year term. IRL these players normally get 1-2 year extensions, would be cool if this could be mirrored as a default in FHM. - Add full and modified (partial) NMC/NTC. This would add to the realism. Also if it could be possible to add NMCs/NTCs by season rather than for the entire contract that would be great as well. - Show training camp developments for players in minors/juniors/European leagues. These are currently not shown anywhere, I guess because training camps occur at different times for different leagues. I probably forgot something, will post more ideas later! |

Some great suggestions here, I will also add that the lineups function that was added to make life easier for online leagues only works when you hand over lines & tactics control to the assistant. If you want to continue to control tactics you can't use the lineups feature. I feel that it is a really useful feature to select who you would want to play in case of injuries but no one uses it because of the limitation.
