Wild Pitches/Passed Balls
I'm doing a fictional league using 1967 players. So far it's been a lot of fun but this is the first season I've done where I have run into this frustrating situation.
When the computer managed team has runners on bases, my human controlled team gives up an incredible number of runs off of wild pitches or passed balls with runners on third. I'm 50+ games into the season and didn't notice it at first but lately it is happening so much I've been keeping track. In the last 7 games my opponent has scored 4 times like that. And in the last 20 games I've given up 12 runs like that. That's an incredible total for a rare play. Meanwhile I've had 2 runs score like that for my team as far as I can remember, I admit I haven't checked that to be sure. It's not that I don't have a good catcher, it's Buck Rodgers and all his defensive ratings are good. My pitchers aren't known for being particularly wild either not that it seems to matter who is on the mound. Anyone else ever had this happen to them? |

Under the League Menu, go to Statistics and then Team Statistics then the sub-menu Team Pitching Statistics. The Wild Pitches are there by team. Passed balls are on Fielding Stats sub-menu. See if you are in-line with other teams. See if the league is in line with the historic league irl for 1967 (it should be). Part of it is you are just watching your games and the timing of them was terrible.

Thanks, I did go to those stats and here is what I found:
I looked at the 4 contending teams, which includes mine. My team has 30 WP, the other 3 have 10, 11, 11. Passed balls is not so bad. |

You'll need to look at all the teams.
Stats are governed by the numbers in Game Settings>Stats & AI> right-hand side. You'll see a WP modifier that is doing the work in setting the league-wide number of WP. Then, presumably based on control of the pitchers in the league, doling them out. At the end of the year, if you have more, you'd need to see if your pitchers have disproportionate control issues and got their fair share given the control distribution. It is possible you are just getting your allotment (for lack of a better word) early in the season and at bad times (which you esp. notice b/c you are watching the game.

The actual rates for 1967 are: WP 1 per 3.29g PB 1 per 9.36g I have several hundred fictional MLB seasons run and these totals are never problematic.
