Custom League, Real Players

I'm a fan of customizing the format to relegation style, re formatting the leagues, but using the real teams (i can manually do this) and players.

But there seems to be no option to utilize or even upload current players.

Any insights?

Use the MLB template and either generate your new league and do an autodraft, or rename the existing MLB to the format of your fictional league. You can also import a CSV but I don't think it'd work how you want.

Unclear how to do this. I would like to do a Historical game with an initial draft of all players (from that year), then normal player development/acquisition for following years..

One more noob Q:
-If a Historical league crosses the boundary in to the next era--e.g., from dead ball to the 1920s--will the game adjust the appropriate settings?

What do you mean by "upload current players"?

This is very simple! Start a historical league, click on advanced in the creation part, go to Options and you can click a box that has Inaugural Draft. If you do not want to go into advance mode, always make sure you have "Import real negro leagues and minor leagues" selected. If you didnt use advance mode, before you do anything in the league, click on MLB or whatever your league is called (The name of the league between your manager name and the team name) and go into League Settings. There is a button that says "Schedule fantasy draft" click on that button, it will empty all rosters and allow you to do a fantasy draft.

After that, the league will advance as it would or you can change things as you want.

OK, I managed to do this, but hope for help with 3 things:
-I'm aware that there was no 5/10 rule or amateur draft. How will player acquisition/retention work after the initial draft?
-I didn't see a button to turn off free agency. Is there one?
-Besides these, I did at least one setup thing that I did not intend; is there a way to start a new game using a saved one as a template that I can edit, or do I have to do it over from start?
