Cap penalties after adjusting league salary cap

Our online league has had teams receive cap penalties on July 1st after the league salary cap was adjusted. A couple of teams had players released and/or players with NMCs sent to the minors by the AI, and pretty significant cap penalties appear on the cap obligation screen. The cap penalties did not appear in any pre-July 1 files, and only appear for one season (the current one).

Is it possible to adjust cap penalties manually? Would you be able to support us with this if we send over the file? I can share the correct cap penalty information for the concerned teams.

Hoping to see an answer to this Bug as it directly impacts over 30 individual GM/Game Players in the iNHL.

The iNHL is an amazing example of the extended fun and enhanced challenge of FHM that comes with an online league. Having consistently 30+ human GM's and a engaged discord with regular interaction and trading/drafting/Banter make the FHM really come to life.

Hoping that we can get this bug fixed so that we can continue our season and the good times with FHM.

Please would you be able to indicate if this is something you believe you are able to support us with, and if so can you already give an estimate on the timeline for when we can expect to receive the file back? The league is currently in a freeze waiting for a fix to this problem. I have emailed the league file link to Jeff, latest email was sent January 9.

Thank you Jeff, we all appreciate your support! It looks like everything works fine now. Just two notes;

1. The file coming back had all player nationalities missing, however I believe I was able to fix that by replacing some of the .dat files with files from the version I sent over to you earlier this week

2. When importing teamfiles from teams that earlier had incorrect cap penalties, the cap penalties for those teams reappeared. Those teamfiles had been submitted using the previous league file, which contained the incorrect cap penalty information. I guess the cap penalty information is stored in the teamfiles. This was addressed by simply not importing those teamfiles.

Hello again,

It seems this bug has reappeared for us. The same teams as earlier have again incurred erroneous cap penalties on July 1st. I have DM'd a link to the league file to Jeff along with some further information. Hopefully you are able to have a look and help us prevent this from happening again!

I've shared the edited file with you on dropbox. Could you send us, if you still have it, a copy of the league files prior to the July 1 changeover? It'll be a lot easier to spot the cause of the problem if we have that. Our first suspicion was that the teams had a big cap penalty because of contract bonuses being hit in the previous season, but as far as we can see the bonus totals were only about 1/3 of the value of the penalties. So it's either a calculation error there, or something else entirely.

I have emailed you links for two league files;

1. In-game date of May 6, 2027. This is the most recent pre-July file that we have backed up. The cap penalties do not appear in this file.

2. In-game date of July 1, 2027. This is a backup I made before adjusting various things, including the league salary cap, so the erroneous cap penalties do not appear.

I also tried, using the July 1 file, to recreate the bug by adjusting the league salary cap but I wasn't able to, so I can't tell for sure what actually caused the cap penalties to appear this time. Last time it was clear that some AI roster movements (MTL/NJD bought out Pesce/Graves, PHI sent Couturier to the minors despite a NMC) had caused it, but none of that happened this time.
