What do LOB in box scores mean?

They can't mean the actual number, since I have seen 28 in a game where I batted 9 times.

The total is the sum of attributions to hitters, but IDK what those attributions mean. Anyone know?

More broadly, I am leaving way too many men on base, 2 or 3 in at least as many innings as not. 2/3 of the way through as the 1924 Senators, I am 1st in the A.L. in BA and 2nd in OBA and runs. I have accumulated ~1,550 hits and walks (don't see a way to find out errors) and scored ~550 runs. My GIDPs see vaguely normal. I think I'm running pretty aggressively--enough to get thrown out at home almost 1/2 the time. Playing more or less Sabermetrically, I practically never steal or bunt (I do squeeze with 1 out, not bases loaded, and decent bunt and baserunning values).

So is my problem just that this is team has little power (31 HRs so far, 5th in league)? Gap power is actually pretty good.

Or is there something I'm not thinking of?

It's simply how many runners were left on base when each individual batter made an out. It's then totaled up with the other columns of the upper section of the box score. I don't see a need to have that column totaled, but there it is. I'll also say I don't think I have ever seen this kept in a box score other than OOTP, IE not sure why it's there or needed?

The traditional team total of runners left on base is in the middle section of the box score with other "game details".

Random chance on your lack of getting those runners in, I would think.

The total team left on base (LOB) is typically recorded, but the box score doesn't typically show individual LOB numbers. For example, here was the final game of the 2023 season: https://www.mlb.com/gameday/rangers-...8534/final/box

Yeah, team LOB is what’s tracked, not the sum of indictable left on base. I don’t think the game necessarily keeps it anywhere other than in the game logs although I think it’d be cool to have some kind of an RBI per opportunity stat (outdated as it might be) in some situations.

LOB is great for people who want to blame hitters for choking in the clutch. Never mind the player has a 6.5 WAR. He didn't hit when we needed him. Trade him! LOL.

Why do people use different players, different lineups, different strategy, development, talent change randomness, and the development lab, but judge the game on whether it produces historical statistics?
