Salary Arbitrarion Question (Can't find anywhere)
The more service years a player acquires the more money they are projected and ultimately make in arbitration. However, is there a situation where a player's arbitration can decline?
For example; I have a player with 3 years service time. His ratings have regressed in the off-season to the point where he is not good enough to be on my 26 man roster, so I sent him down to AAA before the season started, to make room for a more deserving player and in hopes that this player regains his form. If this players spends the next year(s) in the minors and does not accrue any more service time, will his arbitration be the same as the year before, lower or higher? I know it might depend, but generally speaking, what would happen in this situation? My salary page still has him projected to jump from his 6 mil salary to about 9.5 the next year, I looked and looked and loooooked and couldnt find anything, Can anyone help me and offfer and additional information or answer to this question? Thanks in advance! Im surprised I havent dealt with this before, but here i am... |

You should not be able to sign that player for less than $9 million. The projected salary is about right. Once you non-tender that player, you will be able to re-sign him for a lower salary.

Is the option to use non escalating arbitration still available? There is no documentation of this in the manual but I assume it means arb value is based on performance with no allowance for years of service. I don't use it so don't know for sure.

Why do people use different players, different lineups, different strategy, development, talent change randomness, and the development lab, but judge the game on whether it produces historical statistics? |
