CBL presents: MLB 2024 Spring Training file info thread
*** MAJOR UPDATE ***
Setting up a new thread for my Updated MLB Spring Training 2024 edition is nearing release!!!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() Plan is to release by Super Bowl Sunday, February 11 as Spring Training is nearly here!! You can almost smell the fresh-cut grass and hot dogs. This massive update features: - 2024 projections from Steamer and/or ZIPS for thousands of players - 2024 accurate MLB schedule - 2023 MLB awards (MVP, et al) - 2024 MLB rosters as of 2/10 - Top 100 overall MLB prospects reviewed and calibrated - Top 30 prospects for each team reviewed and calibrated utilizing scouting reports from Baseball America and MLB Pipeline - Top 50 2024 international free agents reviewed, calibrated, and placed on teams - Although not technically “approved” yet, I have updated Baltimore ownership with my estimated ratings….Orioles fans rejoice…no more Angelos!!! - Updated coaches at least for MLB teams - Rule 5 selections updated and flagged - Top 100 MLB 2024 draft prospects updated and calibrated based on scouting reports from Baseball America and MLB Pipeline - R/L splits for at least MLB roster batters using either career splits or 2023 splits - Three new members selected to Hall of Fame - All trades, free agents, et al as of 2/10 - Updated injury information - Updated contract information as accurately as we can get (some contracts with multiple opt outs not possible to 100% replicate…for instance Bobby Witt Jr has 4 player opt outs…in the file the player opt out I’ve placed on the first one) A few notes…. - I did not “overrate” prospects to get them in a certain order on team’s top 30. There are many high floor types (45ish) that are older and still in minors that OOTP ranks much lower that traditional publications. I did review and calibrate all of them, however my order/OOTP rankings may not match with other traditional publications. - In general, K ratings for batters had to be inflated…otherwise dudes like Teoscar Hernandez that strike out 200+ times are rendered minor league level useless with overall ratings of 30. This has been a labor of love and one I’m happy to share with my OOTP brethren. Last edited by CBLCardinals; 02-08-2024 at 12:37 AM. |

Hey gang,
In final stages for Sunday Super Bowl roster release! I’m very pleased with the AI pitcher and lineup selections for nearly all teams. Updated Splits+manager traits make a big difference, and nearly all lineups and rotations make sense as I review team by team. Also of note….impact rookies that have zero MLB time I have currently left them in AAA for the time being. This includes Jackson Holliday, Wyatt Langford and others who are MLB ready. I figure I’ll let you as a GM or AI make those decisions when to bring them up to start their service time. Exceptions to this are rookies who have signed extensions such as Jackson Chourio and Colt Keith. They are both on MLB roster and in starting lineup. First sim and overall stat outputs looking great! Looks like I need to boost both Homeruns and Stolen Bases on league totals. I’ll adjust those a bit today to see if we can calibrate closer to real life 2023. Get excited…MLB spring training file coming Sunday!! ![]() 2024 Sim MLB 254 / 322 / 410 2766 SB / 915 CS 8282 2B / 675 3B / 5451 HR 41867 K 4.23 ERA 2023 Real MLB 248 / 320 / 414 3503 SB / 866 CS 8228 2B / 712 2B / 5868 HR 41843 K 4.33 ERA |

One other note…
OOTP AI doesn’t want to carry a $70M DH Ohtani on roster since he can’t pitch ![]() I’m going to try and give him LF ratings so the AI won’t release him :/ ![]() |

Ok gang getting closer….
Batting average a bit higher and assuming more hits inflating ERA a bit. 2023 Real MLB 248 / 320 / 414 3503 SB / 866 CS 8228 2B / 712 3B / 5868 HR 41843 K 4.33 ERA 2024 Sim test 8 257 / 325 / 420 3576 SB / 769 CS 8259 2B / 680 3B / 5889 HR 41339 K 4.47 ERA |

In nearly twenty total sims today using slightly different league total modifiers, it’s been fun watching the season unfold.
Mostly seeing things that make sense - Oakland, White Sox, Nationals, Rockies usually worst teams in league. One fun sim however Oakland actually WON the AL West with I believe a 80-82 record LOL. I’m assuming major injuries decimated the Astros, Rangers, and Mariners as all 3 were below .500 as well. AL West has been mostly Astros, but with Mariners and Rangers also winning some. The AL East has been fun to watch as it’s been a four team death match battle royale with the Yankees, Rays, Orioles, and Blue Jays finishing on top in different sims. AL Central has mostly been either Twins or Guardians, although the Tigers won one, and the Royals won enough games to be in the playoffs! NL East is heavy Braves, with Phillies winning a few, and even the Marlins one sim! Mets also competitive team around .500 and making playoffs as wildcard a few times. NL Central has been wide open with mostly the Cardinals and Cubs winning, with the Reds, Brewers a few wins and even Pirates winning at least once! NL West is heavy Dodgers, but also seeing Arizona winning a few, and even Giants and Padres at least once each. I believe the Rockies made the playoffs as a wildcard in one sim even. |
