1960-2139 Random Debut League

Just for fun I've been fast simming a random debut league. 12 team league one subleague. League ran historically from 1960-1992 and then locked statistically into 1992 going forward. Strategy did follow history, so from 2024 forward the game was played like modern day.

At the end of the 2139 season, I checked the draft and fictional players are starting to enter the drafts. Can't decide whether to continue or not.

Ty Cobb is the leagues all time hits leader with 4147 hits. Behind Cobb is Tony Gwynn with 3602, followed by Luis Arreaz 3585 and Roberto Clemente with 3472

There are 33 players total in the 3000 hit club.

Ty Cobb hit an amazing 905 Doubles over his career. Second in the Doubles race is George Burns with 724 and Harry Heilmann with 691.

Luis Arreaz sits atop the triples list with 206, followed by Mallex Smith 175 and Brett Butler 168..

The home run leader board is rather interesting, as no one reached 600 home runs over the life of the league. Hank Aaron tops the list with 596, followed by Fernando Tatis Jr. with 587 and Babe Ruth with 562. Other members of the 500 home run club are Frank Thomas 554, Matt Olson 552, Lou Gehrig 548, Alex Rodriguez 534 and Manny Ramirez 506,

24 players joined the 400 home run club during their careers.

Chipper Jones drove in 1912 runs during his career. Frank Thomas was next in line with 1909 followed by Hank Aaron 1847.

2 players reached 2000 runs scored over the league history. Ty Cobb 2153 and Juan Soto 2024

Rickey Henderson is the all time stolen base leader with 1167 Eddie Collins is next in line with 1038. Ty Cobb is third with 1004

WAR is lead by Ty Cobb 154.74. Fernando Tatis Jr. 135.24. Babe Ruth 131.09

Nolan Ryan leads all pitchers with 300 wins. Frypan also leads all pitchers with 272 losses.

Sandy Koufax follows Ryan with 281 wins. Koufax despite a bug that requires one to use retire according to history retired at the age of 36 Early Wynn is third on the wins list with 278. 4th on the list is a huge surprise, as Bob Steele won 272 games. Pretty good for a guy that won a grand total of 16 games in real life. From age 21-37 Steele never started less than 32 games in a season going 272-199, 3.19. Steele would strikeout 3018 batters over that stretch.

Mariano Rivera and Karl Spooner sit on top of the saves list with 586. Followed by Chick Brandom with 532.

Nolan Ryan whiffed 4341 batters. Sandy Koufax 3795. Walter Johnson 3277. 9 pitchers total have reached the 3000 K club.

Sounds fun. To continue or not to continue?

I guess ideal would be if OOTP united the two games - the regular today game, where your farm clubs are many and have the rookies of the future, but we won't know after 2024 who will be great and who no (except Jasson Dominguez - he's gonna be great...)

And the historical game. So at a certain point you have today's minor leagers in the minors and if you play to 2050 those are the players, not fictionals.

I think 2140 is as far as I will go. Seeing fictional players pretty much signals the end for me. I once let one run too far and got crazy stats towards the end, which I'm guessing was due to an extremely weak talent pool.

How long did it take you to fast-sim that many seasons?

Not long at all. League is only 12 team and no minors. It's amazing how fast OOTP sims these days. I

I've never fast-simmed in the game. I may have to play around with the concept All my games have been "coach out every game" sims

I don't do it a lot, but sometimes it's just fun to sit back and let the game create history. I just wish I was better at going sifting through that history and pulling out storylines etc. I'm horrible at it. Therefore, I tend to like to watch one game per day in my leagues, so I can somewhat follow the day to day events as they take place. This of course, means it takes quite a bit longer to build history.

I so envy those that can sim and then turn the info from that sim into a huge story book.
