Controlling no team

I have a very long fictional save going where I don’t control any team. I just let the league play out. I’m basically like a commissioner. I make sure everything runs smoothly and enjoy watching the history and storylines of the league unfold. This save goes back to late 2017, but i used to be a GM/manager of a team but that probably stopped in like 2021.

About to start the 57th season. One interesting thing I do every off season is right before opening day before any preseason games are played any free agents that make it to that point take part in a 3 round free agent draft. There are often some decent players still available so it makes for a little more added excitement.

The big story line heading into this season is about a team that should have found themselves in the middle of a dynasty based on their regular season dominance over the past decade, has instead found themselves in the position of losing in 4 straight finals. You heard that correct. Swept in 4 in 2068, swept in 4 in 2069, lost in 5 in 2070 and lost again in 5 in 2071. A pathetic combined record of 2-16 in that 4 year finals stretch. Lots of player turnover in the offseason for them and unfortunately this team looks like their best days are behind them. Maybe they can make one last run at it, before they fade back into obscurity for another 20 years. One final note of this team is they made their league tying 12 straight playoff appearance last season and well as their 6th finals appearance in 9 years. Thankfully they did manage 1 championship but they should have won multiples.
