Lightbulb PT Tournament Roster Builder

Hey everyone,

I want to introduce you to one of this year's new PT feature: Tournament Roster Builder. Let me explain how it works, how to use it so that you can further enjoy your experience in tournament play.

The Roster Builder is a sandbox that allows you to create different rosters that you then can easily use for an upcoming tournament. The rosters are stored locally and you can decide which ones you want to upload to the PT server that will be available for the tournaments. For now, you can create up to 200 new rosters locally and upload 25 of them to the server. Note: You don't need to use all of the server slots and you can easily remove or reupload the rosters to/from the server. Also remember that this is a PT feature, so you will need to log in to PT first to be able to manage your rosters

Setting up a roster is similar to how you do it for league and/or tournament play. In addition, you can set the restrictions of one of the currently running tournaments to better choose the players for that tournament.

To find the Roster Builder you need to log in to PT, open the starter packs, set up a league roster (this is needed to be able to see the tournaments), click on "Show Tournaments" on the entry page and navigate to the "Roster Builder" tab at the top. You will find an empty list and some buttons on the top. In the list you will see your rosters that you have created, their info and be able to manage them separately.

To create a new roster press "Create New Roster" at the top. A new window will show up where you can set a name of the new roster and restrictions from the list of currently running tournaments. Once this is done your new roster will appear in the list. Note: If a name already exists a number will be attached to the new roster's name.

In the list you can see the name of a roster, it's restrictions (if any), the date of the last local change, the date of the last upload to the server (if it was already done), a "set" flag indicating if the roster was already set and some button to manage the roster.

Pressing the "Set Roster" button will take you to the team page where you can assign position and roles to your players. Note: You need to have some PT players available (open packs or buy cards in the card shop) and activated ("Manage Cards" button or "Actions" -> "Activate all eligible cards") to be able to use them here. Once you are done with the setup, press "Save Roster" at the top right and return to the roster builder page. All the changes done here have no influence on your PT league or other tournaments rosters.

Set rosters can then be uploaded to the server by pressing the "Upload to Server" button. You can upload up to 25 different rosters.

Uploaded rosters can be easily chosen from a list next to the "Set Roster" button on the "Traditional Tournaments" page (first tab at the top) or "Your Tournaments" page (third tab at the top) once you have signed in to a tournament. When you select a roster from that list the server will then use it for that tournament. You also can make some changes specifically for a given tournament after choosing a template roster. The changes will then only be used for that tournament and the roster template will remain the same.

Important: For now, you can choose all the uploaded rosters for any tournament. If the restrictions of the roster do not match the ones ofthe tournament a automatically assigned roster will be used instead for the simulation.

In the roster builder list you can also take the following actions:
1. Rename the roster file
2. Change restrictions
3. Delete (locally and from the server)
4. Delete only from the server
5. Restore the server roster setup (by overwriting the local roster)
6. Import the PT league roster to use it as a template (will also overwrite the local roster).

All these options are in the "More Actions..." menu for each roster individually.

At the top there are also additional buttons to help you manipulate several rosters at once. The "Update Rosters on Server" button will upload again all the rosters that are already on the server including your recent local changes to these rosters. This is helpful if you've done several changes to different rosters and want to upload them all to the server.

The "Delete All Rosters" and "Delete All Roster From Server" will delete all your rosters from the server and the former also the local record, then you can start again with a blank list.

Finally, you can also create a template roster for a specific tournament when expanding the tournament entry in the tournament list. There you can click on "Create Roster" and the restrictions of that tournament will automatically be chosen.

Another important note: the rosters from the Roster Builder are saved and loaded differently than the import/export functionality that is used for a tournament or your PT league roster. You can still import a previously exported roster, but you can't import a saved roster from the Roster Builder.

Ok, that's a lot of text, I hope you could follow along. If there are some questions or you've found a bug please reply to this thread and I will explain it and fix the bugs as soon as possible.

We hope you enjoy this revolutionary addition to Perfect Team, and this enhances your playing experience.
Greetings, Alex

The "set roster" drop down in traditional tournament screen isn't populating the roster. When I go into the tournament screen I have to import it from roster builder.

I think I'm seeing something similar. I'm wondering if the roster isn't loaded from the roster builder until the tourney launches.

If I were to join a tourney that starts tomorrow but later today I edit the roster (say, I opened some packs), I'd want it to use the latest roster for the tourney, not the version of the roster I had when I signed up for the tourney.

Yes same here. I would like the drop down to show my saved roster builds.

Has this stopped working for anyone else from the tournament screen? I select the dropdown but am no longer getting the message the roster has been imported and when I go into the tournament screen no line up is there and I have to import it from there.

I still noticed this same problem this afternoon.
I'd set a roster from the dropdown but when I examine the team using the "set roster" button, the players are not there and the roster is not loaded.

I actually had to open the tournament and manually tell it what roster to use. It is more work than in the past.

So it looks like if I set my roster via the dropdown, then wait until the game is full and actually starts, THEN my roster is set.

If i enter the game prior to it being full via the set roster button, nothing is set.

As a side note, is there a way to "download" all rosters from the server? I play on two different machines and currently I don't see a way for Machine 2 to "see" server rosters that were built and uploaded by machine 1

There does not seem to be any default rosters with PT25 as compared to previous versions.

And despite have rosters in roster builder, the pull-down menu always says none.

Just checking, have you saved and also selected "upload to server" next to the rosters you built? I forgot that step the first time looking at this.

This new feature is the reason I'm giving PT another twirl this year. It's pretty much what I've been asking for for years. I only got started on Thursday, but I've been busy with rosters and it's been a glitch-free process.

The only annoying thing is being last to sign up and not getting the dropdown option, then having to go into the tourney and manually load the roster.

I guess the lack of default rosters is to get people using/testing the Roster Builder, but is probably saving a lot of resources too.

It would be nice to see the chemistry rating in the roster builder.

Are we able to sort the drop down list?

Would be great to have my own order, or numerical even.

Not seeing Rosters created from other computer

I have an error I'd like to share:

I have OOTP25 installed on two Macs. When I create a roster and upload to server from Mac #1, it seems that Mac #2 does not know it's there on ther server. It does not appear in the list on the Roster Builder, nor in the dropdowns. (I reset caches and re-installed to no avail)

Interestingly, OOTP GO does see the rosters uploaded from Mac #1, both in roster builder and in the dropdowns.

Is this by design, or something that can be addressed?

Thanks!
