Steam user getting "client not up to date" PT error

not sure how i'm supposed to fix this considering I'm a Steam user.

still can't access Perfect Team

the simulation countdown is now a more reasonable 6+ hours (vs 365 days) but the PT button is still disabled and error message is still the same (OOTP client out of date. install latest version) which I can't do because I'm a Steam user.

Not ideal for heading into the first day of league play. Can't rip packs, can't update roster.

If you go to the start screen, what version number does it show there?

You may need to force steam to update. It was perhaps in offline mode. Sometimes even right clicking on the game in your Steam library, and having it verify the local files can trigger it to find the update and install it.

I also tried checking Steam earlier and didn't see any way to force an update. Although I do know in the past the "play" button was replaced by something else (maybe "install") when there was an update. But that is not the case now.

Try to verify your game files integrity. That sometimes helps jump start Steam into recognizing the updates.

In the Steam client, right click on OOTP. Go to properties > installed files >verify this game's files are installed correctly.

FYI, First it said "All 171 files successfully validated" then nothing. i had to cycle the game back off and on again before the patch installed. that might help other users who find this thread.

Is it possible that changes I made to tournament rosters during the Steam "client not up date" issue didn't go through or were corrupted? (tournaments were still accessible during the issue)

I just noticed a weekly fired with a nearly empty roster even though I set it last night. Then a daily fired with just a roster (no strategy, staff, or lineups) even though I set those yesterday, too.

very likely, yes. most things done on the pre-patched version "25.1.46" for example, would likely not work once "25.1.47" was released. It's always a good idea to make sure you have the latest version and update early and often. Any time you see a message like "client not up to date" or etc, probably not a good idea to play until it is. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks - lesson learned. Bummer that it cost me a Weekly that ate up a tournament slot for days.

I was surprised that it also seemed to change/corrupt a roster that I'd exported to file. I thought those would be safe but I imported one this morning and it was a mess.

I just hope I'm not missing cards I acquired during the issue.

Worst case the cards would just go in your inactive roster. They won't be lost.
