Ji-Man Choi has a fake name

I started a new 2024 MLB game and Ji-Man Choi's name has been replaced by a different Korean name. It's clearly him, because the bref and orher identifiers are clearly Choi.

Yes, some Korean players have their names faked due to legal requirements in Korea.

You should poney up the cash to fix this.
It's a major part in baseball today. Just look at Yamamoto, who wasn't in the OOTP24 game since *** was out because of "rights".
Who will be out this time.
Playing a save it's crazy to have "big" time Japanese players pop up with fictional names.
It all collapsed when you sold the game. Up to the last patch of OOTP23 it was the greatest sport manager simulation game, now it's limping with an amputated left leg. (Japan did win the WCB, so a major force of players)

as I know, problem is more complex than we think.
for KBO, our law(since I am Korean) says "players who effect by common license are famous players. if player is not famous, he should not be effected by license."
and that 'popular players' is problem since company can't define famous objectively. so companies cut all minor players because they just don't want to take a risk.

and for ***, a company called KONAMI has exclusive license. they make *** game with it and they will not allow other company use it.

These are all that I know. and we need to understand about irresistible force.

but the good news is still there.
Com2us (mother company of OOTP) took sub-license of *** early 2023 and they projected to release new *** baseball game imln 2025. I don't know this will effect to ootp or not but compamy still try to improve their game.

hope this will help to calm you down.

Why are their names faked in the regular game, but not in Perfect Team?

I think Historical facts cannot be copyrighted and they have MLBPA License so they can use players team, name, records etc.

I could be wrong but they have real name in historical game too.
(also 1000+ retired player have their real name and real records)

So they played for MLB and game use only their MLB informations only, it will be okay.

-----
this answer are NOT 100% correct or saying exact facts.
everythings are guess from other similar issues happend to other game company before.

I know the issue with Japan is that in that country statlines *can* be copyrighted, apparently. I don't know the deal with Korea or the KBO; I would assume OOTP has an agreement with them but I guess they're just being safe?
