Wander Franco

So obviously he will be put back on the suspended list any day now by the league... so I do understand him not being on the Rays active roster. But is he really erased from historical leagues too? Because I can't find him any game i create

Just did a default Historical Game in 2022 (two screenshots). He's right there.

He is also in a 2023 game (one screenshot). I have no idea how you can miss him.

Wander Franco is likely not playing in MLB ever again, but I don't understand why he's been erased from the default MLB setup entirely, including his historical stats, rather than marking him as retired or suspended for 99 years or something. I don't really like OOTP's policy of throwing all inconvenient facts down the memory hole, first the Indians and now this. We surely disapprove of Franco's alleged behavior, but the fact that he played in MLB for a time remains. Blinding yourself to history doesn't help anyone.

You can alter your own files re: the Indians and nobody will probably care. Franco, and Felipe Vasquez...those guys are probably going to the bottom of the sea metaphorically speaking.

No Wander Franco when you start a new standard 2024 game.

You have to use the Import Historical Player feature to get him into the game. His 2023 stats are included.

I could add Wander Franco via the editor too. That's not my concern. My concern is with the historical philosophy of writing anything uncomfortable out of the historical record. You know what's worse than having a cartoon Native American mascot or creeping on 14-year-olds? The Holocaust. We gonna start pretending that never happened too?

I'm pretty sure OOTP was required by MLB to erase the Indians from history

You know what's worse than OOTP keeping a certain racist mascot that's no longer used by the league in the game? Breaking their licensing agreement and being forced to scramble all the team names and player names like they used to. Granted, in the US, unlike, apparently, Japan, statlines do not count as IP but that would still be a PITA.

I feel like an awful lot of people pretend to like capitalism right up to the point to where the invisible hand goes somewhere they don't like for it to go.

I just started a new save with the Angels trying to do the impossible. I made the playoffs the first season with the help of an imported Wander Franco and unretired Trevor Bauer. I lost in the first round, but I have Franco "locked up" for the next 10 years, so hopefully I can get a ring before Trout retires.

I find it curious that white people are quick to call something racist when the people who are the alleged victims don't feel the same way. I can't tell you how many Chief Wahoo baseball hats I saw on the Rez, Same with Washington Redskin hats.

I don’t see any Nazi references in OOTP, so it looks like they’re already “PrEtEnDiNg ThAt NeVeR hApPeNeD tOo.”

I understand people love being outraged by everything these days, but throwing a fit because a privately owned company decided they didn’t want to be associated with a pedophile anymore seems like a new low. Not that you’re the only one, I know a few Trevor Bauer/Wander Franco defenders at work…not surprisingly, they’re the same people who were completely fine with Colin Kaepernick never getting another shot at an NFL job.
