Historical simulation Creation

Good afternoon, yesterday I wanted to start my long-term (historical) simulation and I realized some things that I would like to know if they are errors or if I change something in the creation.

The first thing I could realize is that when it comes to creating in historical leagues I don't have the options to choose years of recalculation, import of defensive ratings and pitcher stamina. All these parameters are associated with a game mode, replay, default, career and random.

As neither at the beginning of the setup I can choose the parameters to adjust to strengthen or weaken batters and pitchers, all these options are available once everything is created and it is in the historical tab.

Is this a bug or are the new parameters for creating historical seasons?

And the second thing is that before the historical seasons began just before ST but now by default it seems to start as the modern day simulations which is three days before the opening day. Is this again a bug or something that I need to configure? Or was it designed like this in 25?

Not 100% sure of what you're asking but once you create your game you can go to the historical tab and change the recalc years and the adjust/weaken settings, and then click on the Recalculate Player Ratings button just below the adj/wkn settings, and OOTP will then recalculate all player ratings based upon your selections.

Unfortunately, I don't know about your ST question, as I never play with ST on. But I'm positive someone else with that knowledge will chime in soon

thehef is correct on the settings. To get to them, there is now an extra step. Hit the "Advanced Set-up" button in the Wizard, Hit "Yes" to the pop-up, then go to the historical tab to get to those settings.

On Spring Training, every historic game I've played in past editions of OOTP has started just before opening day. Maybe there is some advanced setting that changes this, but if so, I've never toggled it. Just went to OOTP24 and started a historical 1921 game, sure enough, it began on 12 April, just before the MLB schedule started.

Is everyone sure they selected "schedule spring training?"

It the past neutralized stats would ignore that for the first season and start just before opening day but real stats gave ST the first year.

Ok I didn't know this, I was almost sure that with any of the two options the simulation started in the middle of February and one advanced to ST, but this time it started in March 31, by the way as I play career mode (development on) what I said at the beginning of the post in the historical creation wizard I don't have the option to choose real stats or neutralized, I can only edit these options once the universe was already created and I go to the Historical tab.

I am not very enthusiastic about going into advanced creation setup, because then I have to check a lot of options that should be by default.

I no longer have the 24 installed to confirm this.

In my current and historical sims with 25 the game still starts just before Opening Day, even though I click yes for Spring Training for five weeks in setup.

I love Spring Training - IRL and in OOTP - and can suggest two work-arounds.

First, you simply have to start a year earlier, and play/sim through the prior year. The advantage is that you get the entire off-season, including Winter Leagues if you want, Winter Meetings for trades, plenty of time to sign free agents, and up to five weeks of Spring Training!

Second, you could fiddle with the date the regular season starts (and thus the schedule), in order to create a "window" for ST. Problem is, you have to be careful to adjust other dates, like the ASG, trade deadline, roster expansion, and playoffs. And let the game build a new schedule. So for example, you could move Opening Day to May 1, to allow for 4-5 weeks of ST. Your season would run through October, and your playoffs would be in November. The devs discourage too much fiddling with the calendar, because one date change can affect others. So be sure to save and backup as you go.

Thank you for your advice.

Although I said I didn't have 24 installed I could swear that in that version the historical simulations always started before ST.
