Is it Normal for a player to request 47 million a year and then sign for a reasonable 14 million?

I would have totally signed for 14 million but if I offered that amount he would have just broken off negotiations.

It's a struggle to resign good SP

In arbitration the same year (2027) so not that far out, they awarded $37 million to one of my other SP

Players that don't get offers for their initial demands will accept less money as the offseason goes on. You should have offered him a lowball offer and let him break off negotiations. If he's not worth his demands, he'll come crawling back.
