Distribution of reliever's stuff rating after update
https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=355507 I pointed out that there are so few relievers with high stuff when league has been running for more than 10 years, and this update seems to adjust it. Generated players with high stuff seem to appear appropriately and rating distribution also seems reasonable. Last edited by tktkrtktkr; 05-28-2024 at 09:08 AM. |

It does seem that a victory lap is warranted here. While a critical deficiency in such a fundamental element as player creation should be present at release—let alone two months later—is inexcusable, once that failure is made the best amelioration is surely an honest effort to rectify it. Previous grievances do not prevent recognition of and appreciation for subsequent laudable work. I am certainly vocal in expressing my dissatisfaction and criticism when (in my honest assessment) it is justified; I see no reason to not be equally forthcoming in conveying my appreciation and congratulations. I know that I am not alone in my gratitude for improvements of existing core mechanics like that apparently achieved in this case.

I didn't compare stats in detail as I did ratings. The difference I can find simply is that the number of RP with 2.0+ WAR has definitely increased. Though it may be jumping to conclusions, I think it's fair to say that the distribution of actual performance has changed as well.

Still think there is a problem with receivers (may not just be stuff related). I have been running sims to approximate 2010 output for a fictional league. While I get pretty good league totals for K's (6.7 per 9IP vs 7.1 per 9IP in real life), the distribution isn't great, especially with relievers. In OOTP, there aren't any relievers on the far end of a distribution curve, they are much more bunched up, whereas in real life, there are definitely some relievers who are way ahead of the average K per 9. I've seen this in multiple sims - there just don't seem to be as many "elite" pitchers, at least from a reliever standpoint created or developed.
