More picks in draft round than expected - OOTP 25

Can someone help explain what happened here? I must be missing something/unaware of a rule/setting that may be causing this.

In 2029 draft with my league which previously expanded to 32 teams, I see 42 picks were made in the 1st round, 40 in 2nd round, 29 in 3rd round, 28 in 4th, and then 32 as expected for the rest of the draft.

1st round I was meant to have 25th pick but ended up drafting 31st.

I don't believe this has occurred in prior drafts. Any insight would be appreciated!

There is an orange warning in the first screenshot about the order being shown. Was the draft pool not released before the draft? Yet that screenshot implies it is draft day (same date as your log).

Infractions: 1/1 (1)
With certain settings teams can get additional picks for either losing a free agent or for not signing their pick in that round the previous season.

Rain, I thought of that but would expect to see that in the order listed (hence my focus on the orange warning - I was thinking maybe a missed milestone event messing things up). To the OP, follow-up on Rain’s post and go to last season’s transaction log for the signing deadline and see if the unsigned players (round and team) align with the additional picks.

So looks like Rain King (big Counting Crows fan myself) was correct, followed your advice and looked at last years draft for some of the teams that had multiple first round picks and they indeed had first round picks last year that did not sign and went to college instead. Is this how draft in MLB actually works for failing to sign a draft pick? Do you know where this setting can be adjusted (if possible)?

I'm not sure there is a toggle to turn it off except just eliminating the negotiation component of the draft altogether and having it so the picks sign automatically with the team that selects them. That's the "Enable Advanced Draftee Signing" toggle in League Settings, Rules, lower right. It defaults to negotiations.

The OOTP24 manual states:

Negotiation Results
The results of your negotiations can be positive, in which case the player joins your team and is placed in your designated for assignment area. Or they can be negative, in which case you will have to submit a new offer.

If you are unable to sign your draftees in the allotted time, they will sit out the year and will be eligible to draft again next season! If this happens, you will be awarded compensation draft picks in next season's draft for players drafted in the first three rounds. The compensation pick will be at the same draft number as the unsigned draftee plus one, so if a #12 pick in 2010 is not signed the compensation pick will be #13 in 2011. These compensation picks are not available for free agent compensation.

Got it, appreciate the help
