Will historical minor leagues still work if I mess with MLB expansion history?

I'm templating out an MLB save in which much of SFGiants58's Defunct Saga timeline occurs. You can find that at this link or on the graphics forums: https://boards.sportslogos.net/topic...dded/#comments

I am wondering how the Historical Minor Leagues feature will function if I choose to expand the 2nd Washington Senators franchise in 1965 instead of 1961, for instance. If I keep the same historical ID despite changing when a particular franchise enters the league, will it map the correct affiliates?

Curious to hear from anyone who has tried this. Let me know if there's an alternate workaround.

i have the same type question....expanding earlier and adding new expansion teams to the existing MLB.
i am pretty when i tried this in the past minor leagues affiliates stayed with real teams and new minor league teams were created for new expansion. I wasn't sure how it created them. Pretty sure it used bigger population centers for AAA.

Having toyed with expansion options both in contemporary leagues and in the past, I have always set new affiliates for the new teams. And, based on the way the historical minor league files work, you will either have to do this each year, or (better yet) edit the MiLB league and teams files going forward to include your new creations. Note that my work has always relied on new (not existing) minor league cities for affiliates, so maybe not answering your actual question about using existing affiliates in a new time frame.

First, some questions:

1) With what season are you starting/did you start) your game?

2) Do you have Automatically Expand League enabled?

3) Assuming the answer to #2 is Yes, how are you planning to accomplish keeping the Senators from not becoming a team in 1961?

4) What's the plan for dealing with an odd-numbered AL for the 61-64 seasons? Without the Senators, you'll have a nine-team league, which isn't impossible but would create a schedule nightmare and be quite unrealistic...
