New player - advice wanted
Drunk play? Oh yeah, these chicks might be stumbling into bed but they're damn sure about one thing: they want to ride hard until sunrise. You've got scenes that feel so real your own room will spin—tipsy party girls taking "party favors" into each other's throbbing zones with abandon.

To the specific question, yes, you can do a live start first. Once the game starts, you'll have access to all the settings, and adjust the trade and injury settings. Personally I play with the High/Realistic Modern day injuries and its a fun challenge. Really forces you to build depth and not just rely on a few superstars to carry you |

You'll probably get as many different kinds of advice on starting as there are posters, LOL. Everybody plays their own way, and it has taken years for many of us to refine the settings we like.
I like the challenge of rebuilding (although the 2024 Reds are well along toward being a competitive team). One of the first choices you'll have to make is whether you want to replay seasons using actual stats (recalculate each year to determine player ratings), or (my choice) to use the game engine for random development using present ratings. In this mode you'll want to think about how much "Talent Change Randomness" or "TCR" you want. The default is 100, which should yield very stable development from existing ratings. I usually advance to 150 or so, making things less predictable, but more challenging. On injuries, while they are very much a part of the game, a devastating loss of a player can really disrupt what you are trying to accomplish. I set injuries to low, which basically means you still have a risk with guys who have a long injury history, but should not lose guys who have been healthy throughout their careers. I don't mind the short-term injuries, and in fact they can present a real challenge in making lineups and dipping into your farm system for subs. The good basic advice, whatever your settings, is to plunge in, create a season. get the feel for play. Save and backup often. You may want to go back and have a "re-do" with new settings. However you start, odds are you'll learn and do it differently the next time. The possibilities are vast and fun to explore. Enjoy!

My reason for suggesting this is that if it's your first time playing you are not going to have a real feel for all of the different tweaks for the individual settings. There may be things that you don't realize aren't to you liking or preference until you get to your first offseason (and at that point have invested X amount of hours into the game). And at that point you're going to have a lot more of a chance to tweak and adjust with Commish Mode on than if you had it off. What you probably don't want to do is get 100 hours into the game only to realize there is setting that you regret having on or off and then having to start everything over.... Having Commish Mode on will increase the odds of you being able to adjust on the fly since you will have more control. But discipline yourself when it comes to abusing commish power |

100%. You need to establish a "house rule" to limit your discretion. When I question a modern-day trade, I might well poll my three sons, to see what they think. Or ask my (older) friends about historical seasons and trades.
The game now has a toggle at each team setting to turn off AI roster moves. I have checked that box for teams that I have worked on, but don't actively manage, so the AI does not undo what I have created. I don't consider myself a control freak (but "if the shoe fits"....); but I always end up playing in Commissioner mode, because I like to tinker.

Disable owners goals, disable all the psychology, have scouting on 100% accurate, don't stick yourself with a cheap owner who doesn't care about winning, and play a historical period where you know the players and with a half way decent team with historical rookies on. Then start turning things on when you become comfortable with the workload.
