New Openings!
BatFlip Baseball is looking for GM's!
About the League: BFB has been going for about 5 real-life years. We currently use OOTP 25. We just finished the 2041 season and are on the first day of the 2042 off-season! Currently, we have two openings: Atlanta: The Braves struggled in 2041, hovering near the bottom of the league-wide standings before a September surge saw them finish at 71 wins. All is not lost, however, as Atlanta has the 7th best farm system, led by #22 overall prospect SP Tony Vera, who has a five-pitch mix with projected plus movement and control. In addition, there are 6 other prospects on the top-100 list, though most (including Vera) are several years away. The new GM will be able to bolster that system with the #5th overall pick in next year's draft. The Braves also have a decent budget situation; they are only the 17th largest budget, but they have over $20m to work with in 2042 and $43m to work with in 2043 - and that is with 3x scouting and 3x player development already baked in! The new GM could take this team in any number of directions. Baltimore: The Orioles won the AL East with an 82-80 record and won their Wild Card Series as well! A new GM will be working with the #2 overall farm system, headlined by #3 overall prospect CF Ken Grass. Grass projects to be an elite defensive center fielder, with contact, gap power, and speed all projecting to be plus or maybe even plus-plus. In addition, Baltimore has 4 other top-100 prospects at its disposal, all of whom have a 1-3 year timeline for breaking into the majors. The biggest challenge facing the Orioles is its budget situation. The Orioles project to have the lowest overall budget; compounding this are two long-term contracts that project to keep the Orioles in a budget crunch for their duration - one runs for another two years and the other runs for another three years. We use real MLB teams and roster rules. Sims are Monday-Friday around 12 p.m. EST, and occasionally one additional on the weekends. Please DM me if you are interested! |

New Openings!
BatFlip Baseball is looking for one GM; an additional spot or two may open in the coming days. About the League: BFB has been going for about 5 real-life years. The founder of the league stepped back as commissioner prior to the last in-game season (but is still part of the league as a GM), and I just completed my first season as the commissioner. We use MLB teams & formats. We recently revised the Constitution to help mirror real-life MLB rules; for example, small-market teams are part of a competitive balance pick system and we use a draft lottery that mirrors the MLB format. Draft picks cannot be traded (except for competitive balance picks which can be traded once). However, we do not implement real-life penalties such as the "Cohen Rule," etc. This season, we also revised the national media agreement to make it more aligned with the real-life MLB local/national media rights split. Large market teams still enjoy a competitive advantage when it comes to budget. This coming offseason will be the first adjustment, and a second adjustment will come next offseason. You can read the League Rules here. In all, it is an engaged league and we are looking for those who want to be a part of that! We have discussed participation incentives but have not yet implemented any, and will not do so this offseason. Even without participation incentives, 8 GM's achieved 100% participation in past in-game season, and 7 others were at 85% or better. We currently use OOTP 25. We just finished the 2042 regular season. The 2042 playoffs are about to start and I am looking to fill openings now so the new GM is in place once the offseason begins! Currently, we have one opening: Cleveland: The Guardians last made the playoffs in 2040, finishing with 95 wins and the AL Central title. They have regressed the past two years, winning 84 games in 2041 and 77 games in 2042. They are an average market with a below-average fan base and were awarded a second-round competitive balance pick in last year's draft. Although not guaranteed, they are likely to receive one again this year. I have uploaded some pictures to give a flavor of the team. The first three pictures are of the team's highest rated players; one of them will be injured through the start of next season. The fourth picture is of the team's highest rated prospect - this is the only prospect in the top 100, unfortunately (Cleveland's minor league system ranks 24th of 30 teams). The remaining pictures are to share financial info. The financial projection is not as scary as it seems. There is a $7m boost coming to all teams as part of the national media rights update. One player has a manageable buyout, and others could be arbitration casualties. The new GM will have to weigh the potential for extending some young talent while maintaining payroll flexibility. Or maybe the new GM will tear it down. Please DM me if you would be willing to take over this team! Last edited by itsmelen; 10-14-2024 at 02:44 PM. |

Cleveland is still open.
In addition, the Los Angeles Dodgers have come open as well. The Dodgers just finished a bad season, losing 116 games. They have the best odds for a top pick in the upcoming draft, and 4 prospects ranked in the top 66 (but not much after that). They project to have over $50m in free budget (with scouting and development already at 3x baseline), and the new GM could free up more money with arbitration decisions. Financials and Roster here This is a high potential team and a very fun league! Come join us. |

New Opening:
Tampa Bay Rays The Rays were75-87 this past season. They have the 11th-best farm system, with 4 players in the top 100 (2 of whom are SPs who will be ready to contribute next year). Their market size is average, with good loyalty and ‘80’ fan interest. They have a very clean cap sheet, with no debilitating contracts; in fact, the Rays have nearly $73m in projected cap space (could easily go up to $80m) and nearly $105m in cap space for the following year. The Rays’ base draft position will be 9th overall (subject to lottery results); they will also receive a competitive balance 2nd round pick. The AL East was down this year; all 5 teams finished under .500, so with two cheap young pitchers and a lot of budget room, there could be a quick path to the playoffs for a new GM. About Bat Flip Baseball: Started in 2020, with several of the original GM’s still participating, BFB is a mature and engaged league. We currently use OOTP 25, and we just finished the 2043 season. Many GM’s in BFB are commissioners of other leagues as well. We use Slack and Stats+. In all, it is an engaged league and we are looking for those who want to be a part of that! We use MLB teams & formats. We try to mirror real-life MLB rules; for example, small-market teams are part of a competitive balance pick system and we use a draft lottery that mirrors the MLB format.
