Hit by Pitch modifier
Changing the HBP league total modifier has little to no effect.
2024+ historical year, fictional league, 30 teams, 162 games. I raised the HBP league total modifier to 2.500 then 4.300, and it never increased the resulting number of HBP with multiple years of simulation for each step. The total is set to 1700. I used auto-calc to start. The numbers are incredibly consistent around an ~875 average. I want to say it actually went down slightly, but i can't be sure of that memory. I can definitely say the average stayed in the 800s or lower each time. |

Did you change the HP modifier after the auto-calc ran? It's one of the items that gets adjusted in the auto-calc run, so it will readjust to the league totals.

I wasn't expecting it, so I didn't track the resulting averages other than noticing it never moved toward the target value. So i can't say with confidence it has "zero" effect. I do know that drastic shifts in the modifier had little to no effect. It seemd to remain in the mid 850s but if it had some tiny effect i woudln't have noticed. i needed it to nearly double, so when i saw the average never broke 1000 and needed to get to 1700ish i wasn't really paying attention beyond that. ranging from .8xx to 1.7xx to 2.whatver to 4.whatever... huge increases to modifier with accompanied years of data to caclualte an average, sometimes 50-100 years, but at least 5-10 at minimum..I started changing the modifier over shorter terms to prove to myself it wasn't doing anything, lol. Even tried a more reasonable but still higher LTM than orginally auto-calced just in case going too high had an opposite effect somehow. Last edited by NoOne; 07-25-2024 at 12:27 AM. |
