Question about Stadium Backgrounds
Hi all,
I don't know much about the 3D stadiums - but when comparing OOTP 24 to OOTP 25, I noticed that on the 3D Model edit page there were new options for viewing the stadiums at different times of day and in different weather conditions. I know the backgrounds changed in previous versions based on time of day at least, but I feel like I'm seeing slightly different behavior in OOTP25. I'm using Silvam's parks and currently playing as the 2007 Baltimore Orioles. The Camden Yards stadium from that time period looks great, but whenever the weather is cloudy or rainy, the Hilton hotel in the background disappears completely. Same thing with "Evening" or sunset - the hotel in the background is just gone. I don't remember seeing this happen in OOTP 24 - maybe I had different camera angles - but while the sunset is beautiful, it is very distracting to have the Hilton disappear mid-game! I'm pretty sure I downloaded Silvam's latest full Historical Stadium file for OOTP25 - is there a quick and easy way to fix this? I'd love to learn more about editing the ballparks anyway - just haven't been sure how to start. Thanks! |

The image files for the stadium during dusk and evening will have a "_night.png" ending in their name. You might check and see if something happened to the files in your textures directory for the stadium in question.

Thanks for the response - but I don't have that in this folder. I have two subfolders sky_box_day and sky_box_night that seem to contain background textures like the hotel - they have names like "xn.webp" and "xp.webp".
It looks like this particular stadium was made for OOTP21 - maybe that's why I'm having issues? |

XN, XP, YN, YP, ZN, and ZP are all correct and proper for skyboxes. The names refer to the axis positions of the views. N and P are negative-positive positioning. Yeah, I was a nerrrrrrrrrd!
I looked over the files, and the problem is indeed the skyboxes, but not for the reason you thought. In 25, we now have skyboxes for day, evening, and night in clear, cloudy, and rainy (no night rainy though). The game looks at the skybox images in your model folder first, and only then on to the default skyboxes...which are stored somewhere else. Since the default files aren't designed specifically for Camden, they don't have the buildings. Short of determining how to extract google earth data and make your own, there is no answer to that problem. While I make a bunch of skyboxes, I do not know how to perform that trick. Hey, at least the game is working as it should...
