Can we get more advanced stats?

The stats available haven't changed in several years and it would be nice to have some new ones added.

My personal preference would be expected goals for players, expected goals for and against for teams and giveaways in the defensive zone, in that order.

The more stats the better so we can make more informed decisions about our teams.

Also include the number of 1st, 2nd, 3rd stars for each player in their career stats.

Yeah I'd love to see things like xG factored in, especially as they've got spatial data getting tracked in some way for the SQ metrics that are in there currently.

xG would be difficult to do. Skipping the question of which expected goals model to use, there's the basic problem that all of them use the NHL play-by-play data.

So before we can make the xG calculations, we'd need to build a system that translates our game data into the same format. But that would also mean tracking a lot of things that we don't now - location of different events, which players were on the ice for them, when players entered and left, and so on. So that's going to crank up the storage requirements for every game, and make for a pretty good-sized coding project. Not to mention the problem of making it work with the older engine, which isn't as friendly towards that sort of thing as 2D mode is.

What's likely to happen is that we go in the direction of gradually adding all the parts of the NHL data. Location tracking for everything comes in one update, precise accounting of shift times in another, and so on. Eventually, we'll get it all in. ut that'll take a while, so the advanced stats that get derived from it will need to wait.

Entirely understandable, thanks for the insight.

Would love to be able to get Point Shares from just the player cards to the main roster 'Adv Stats' tab too!

Not exactly advanced stats, but I'd like to be able to see team vs team results showing wins, losses, ties, SO losses, goals for, and goals against for the current season.

Advanced stats kept for previous years

Great work overall, wondering if I am missing something. All the advanced stats seem to disappear once the season is over. It would be great to have those available as I enter the off-season and pre-season.

We can´t store every stat for every player/staff/team/league, memory usage would kill the game pretty quickly. So we store everything for a season but only selected stats for careers.

That is a fair answer but it doesn't have to go to memory, it can be stored on disk (the database) and read when needed. Many of your customers are nerds about data! Just a thought for future versions ....
