Player Names Randomly Changed/Incorrect
Last night I played a game, saved, and closed out OOTP. This morning when I opened the game all of the player names were different. When I click on a player name, it takes me to yet another player name, none of which are the correct player (stats are not correct either). I think somehow something got corrupted?
Team Standings, Team Names/History, BoxScores all have the correct player names (but clicking on a player brings up an incorrect player). I tried copying the DAT files from auto_save, but that didn't work (the auto_save DAT files and League DAT files were the same anyways). Any way this can be recovered? My last backup was just 80 games ago, but I was having an epic season and would hate to lose all that. Note: this is on OOTP23, wasn't sure if that forum was being monitored anymore.

Were the last names all changed to Smith?
I don't have a fix for you, but something similar happened to me last night where after re-opening a saved game, I found that all my created players (one team) had their last names changed to "Smith" as did about 1/3 to 1/2 of the other historic MLB players had their names changed to Smith. Shohei Smith was my fav.

No Smiths, just random names. Though if I click on any retired player it takes me to Jim Unknown.

A few things I have tried:
* Copied the DAT files from the autosave folder. (the files were the exact same date, time and size as the ones in the root folder). * Created a new league and copied the names.DAT file over. All the player names were randomized again and still didn't have the correct player name or stats, and they were still linked to another random player (eg: clicking on "Bob Jones" takes you to "Leroy Jenkins"). * Copied the players.DAT file from my last backup, but upon opening OOTP it gives me a Database Error. When OOTP opens it's back to the wrong player names.
