Player is Red Shirted, and can't be dressed
I have a 20-year-old prospect in NHL and he can't be dressed for games because he's 'red shirted'.
I'm not familiar with that rule, but I've not had this same issue with any other player recruited from the NCAA. He can only be placed in NHL, AHL or ECHL - but he can't be dressed for games in any of these leagues. How do I fix this issue? |

That redshirt status should have been cleared as soon as he left his NCAA team. Could you upload that save? We'd like to see how that's happened, and we'll be able to fix him for you.

Please let me know if the save file didn't come through correctly - I was unsure about how to handle the graphics folder so I simply deleted all the contents of it before zipping the save file folder. On this save there are two players on my Canadiens depth chart who have this red shirt bug: Sascha Boumedienne and Dillon Fry. FWIW it's an old save so I don't particularly need a fixed save file back. I just hope this bug could be fixed for the future as it seems to be happening relatively often and there doesn't seem to be any in-game fix for it. I've played ~17 seasons on a Standard Game right now, and I've had this bug appear on three different players that I have personally drafted, even though I learned early on to be careful about drafting NCAA prospects due to this bug. I did find old instructions on reddit from one of you dev guys that suggested to wait until July 1 and then retiring and unretiring the bugged player - but this also did not fix the issue. The players who get this red shirt bug seem to never come out of it. I've waited several years, like until the player is 28 years old and still he will not have played one single game anywhere after getting the NCAA red shirt. He will remain unable to be dressed even after he leaves my NHL organization to play privately in AHL, ECHL or Europe - the bug seems to affect all teams in all leagues. What I do know is that this only seems to happen to NCAA players or at least I've not seen it with any other organization. I also know that it happens with players on many different NCAA clubs. It would seem that the player gets bugged if he is red shirted in NCAA at the time of him signing an NHL contract. Then the red shirt will stick, and it will also stick for any other leagues and not just NHL. If, on the other hand, the red shirt gets removed while he is still in the NCAA club, then he will be available to dress and play on other teams after (noting that the player has played in his NCAA club at one point AFTER having been red shirted originally). At least this is what it seems to be. If I had to guess it would seem that every player that has a NCAA red shirt upon signing to another league will get this bug, or at least that's how it looks to me. Odd, they don't have the redshirt flag anymore, but they still can't be dressed, as if it was still there. But the scenario you described makes sense, where the status is getting stuck if the player signs outside the NCAA (the only league that can redshirt) while still redshirted. We'll take a look there, it may just need a fix so signing clears that status properly.
