Why does the game auto load sometimes when starting

Sometimes the game reloads everything when I start ootp 25. This overwrites some changes I have made. How do I stop these reloads?

What kind of things is it overwriting? Files you modded? In-game settings?

As a modder, I have this issue. Because those files ship with the game, any patch will overwrite them. I’d prefer if there were (and I have not checked recently to see if there is yet), a way to repoint every folder from tbe default containing the shipped files and your mods like a /databaseMod instead of a default /database for each game/sim. Because then anything in there won’t be redone via a patch install. Otherwise, after each patch, put the modded files back atop the OOTP restored ones.

Bottom line, I wish OOTP better embraced its mod-ability instead of making it so hard on a practical basis such as your experience indicates because I’ve been where you are.

I put all my modded files in a separate location. I just have to remember to copy my files back. I still don't understand why sometimes when I start the game it does an update with no notice.
