Patch installation failed: Could not unpack archive

This is the only game I still play so I can not thank y'all enough for all of the work you put into OOTP every year!

I've tried downloading the public beta version from both macOS links but I keep running into the same issue: After the game installation completes, a "warning" pop-up displays over the main screen.

I am then able to enter my activation code, but when I try to start a new game, I get another "error" pop-up:

Unable to load world template file (invalid file format). Please re-install OOTP.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling from both links, but the same thing keeps happening. Please let me know if any additional information would be helpful here and thanks again for giving me an imaginary world in which the Yankees are managed competently!

Try unpacking and installing to a different location on your hard drive. From what I can see here, it looks like you're trying to unpack somewhere where you do not have write permissions.
