Unhappy To Play At The NHL Level?

I am trying to figure this one out. This player has been unhappy because he's playing at the "Wrong Level" despite being on my NHL roster for over a month. When I send him to the AHL, I get the same concern from him.

Usually I see this when an AHL player thinks they should be in the NHL, but I've never seen it from a player already in the best league in the world. Does this mean he thinks he isn't ready for high level pro hockey? How do I fix this?

Yes, it's likely caused by the player being in over his head at both the NHL and AHL level. Is it a young prospect, or another very low-rated player?

It isn't. It is a 26 year old defenceman with a 2 star rating who my scouts say should be a regular on my team.

Just as a test, I traded him to a different team and the status message went away, which is even more weird.

That's odd. He's likely too good for the AHL, so that's why it's showing up when he's on the farm team, but I'm not sure why it'd be like that when he's on the NHL roster. Can you upload the save and let me know the name of the player? I'd like to see what's going on with him.

Ah, now I realize what it is: that's the morale penalty for being sent down, not for playing at the wrong level. We need to change the label on that so it's clearer. But Eldebrink's bio says he hasn't been sent down in two years, so either something's going wrong there or a demotion didn't get recorded. Did you sent him down in 87-88 at all, or is October 1986 really the last time he was in the minors?

October 1986 was the last time he was in the minors, he spent the entire season there. He was called up automatically on July 1, 1987 when my affiliate changed and spent all season with the big club. That's why I am confused that he's been unhappy for so long.

Yeah, that's not right, that unhappiness should have cleared up long ago. We'll see what's going wrong there.

It turned out that the affiliate change was what did it. The internal marker that he had been recalled from the farm team didn't get set, so the status never changed. We'll get that fixed.

Will you be able to apply a fix to an existing save?
