? on restructuring minors and when to do it

I have an existing fictional league that is somewhat structured after the real MLB. I am on the last day of the season (11/11) and prior to going into the next season off-season.....all the minors are currently in the off season.

I have structured my USBL like real MLB (30 teams, lg, divs etc...) My minors AAA, AA, A, A(s), R(advanced) were split into two leagues (15 tms each)....an East and West.

I am wanting to restructure each of the minor levels into three leagues now with 10 teams in each. I want to capture my almanac for this season to the current structure (almanac creates on 12/31 or 1/1)

Am I safe to add the third league at each level and move teams after the 1/1 date almanac creation and anytime before the pre-season starts on these levels?

I'm 90% certain that you'll need to wait until day 1 of the preseason to restructure if your goal is to lock in the current season's structure for the almanac.

I can only speak to how it's done in a historical league: Changes to both majors & minor league structure - including relocations, nickname changes, ballpark changes - occur automatically (in most historical games, based upon settings) as the game transitions from Postseason to Offseason. Typically this occurs a day or two after the completion of your World Series. So assuming a normal baseball calendar, sometime in October. However, your changes would be done manually, and I can't think of a reason you couldn't successfully make them at some point after 12/31 or 1/1 (when you create your almanac).

At any rate, here's what I'd do:

1. Make a copy of your game & rename it.
2. Load your copy.
3. Advance your game to 12/31 or 1/1 & create your almanac.
4. Advance to 1/2 and make one or two of your planned changes.
5. Advance your game into the preseason, verify that the changes made on 1/2 still look good, and then make another couple changes.
6. Advance your game into the regular season, and beyond, and along the way verify that all seems to be well with your changes.
7. If all looks good, then you should be able to go back to your main game and make all of your changes either shortly after your almanac or in the preseason, whichever suits you.

Good luck and be sure to report back
