Playoff eligibility
I'm playing in an offline, self-contained league. Uses essentially the default settings for OOTP. We have roster expansion on 1 September (26 players to 28 players).
I thought it used to be that on the Rosters and Transactions screen, you could see all the players in your system who were eligible for the postseason in MLB. (That is, you might have a player who was on the roster on 1 Sept in-game but was sent down before the end of the season.) But maybe I'm imagining that. Maybe, instead, it was on the Player List screen. The reason I'm wondering is this. Players listed on any roster will have an ampersand next to their name if they're eligible for the playoffs. However, if their name is too long, you can't see all of the superscript symbols that follow it. Players will have an asterisk for being on the 40-man roster, a plus for being out of options, a carat if they can refuse an assignment to the minors, and so on. So you can't always see the ampersand, and it doesn't look like you can adjust the column width in order to see it. Setting the Rosters & Transactions screen to display 1 column by 1 row helps, but it still won't show every eligible player (owing to names being long sometimes). Is there a setting I'm missing? |

Once you qualify for the postseason, go to your organization screen. In the dropdown list, you will see a choice for players on the postseason roster (I set this where my MLB roster is) and then there is another setting for players eligible for the postseason, which I use to replace the secondary roster.

Is there no way to know who is eligible for the postseason before the team makes the playoffs? I mean, my team's in a dogfight in their division. This might come down to the final day of the season. |

Rule of thumb, anyone on the secondary roster who was in the Majors before September first.
