Changing position/role and making it fixed

When importing historical players into OOTP 26 as free agents, there will be the occasional player whose assigned position/role isn't the best. For instance, there will be a player with 125 games played, 115 in LF, and 10 at 1B. The import will assign him a position/role as 1B.

I can go into the player's profile and change the main position/role. For the rest of the session, the modified position/role for the player will show up in the views.

As soon as the game is saved (also by exiting OOTP 26), the position/role gets reset back to what it thinks it should be. This is maddening, and I wish I could stop it.

Am I missing some detail that prevents this change from being saved? I am in Commissioner Mode, which allows me to edit the player's profile. But a modified position/role won't stick with the next save of the game.

I got the same problem, Players like Yordan, J-Ram, James Wood, Augustin Ramirez, Tyler Stephenson, Austin Riley, Raffy Devers, and other players are automatically put at 1B despite not having 1B as a secondary. It's happening all around the league and it's ruining my immersion. I've had to stop my White Sox save because of it. I took over following the 2025 season after winning the KBO, and am in 2026 now. This has kind of happened in my historical save with George Van Haltren and Ed Delahanty, but honestly it's fine for them.

I'm having the same issue while trying to create/edit the roster for my All Time Fantasy Draft QS. It's astronomically annoying having the positions change back after I save the game, considering the fact it took my dumbass 4-5 times of editing the position of hundreds of players, and saving the game to realize what was causing the issue.
