Loading Schedule
In our online league, I swear we've never had this issue before. We're simply trying to load our 2026 schedule, but getting the message that this can only be done in the preseason. We are in Spring Training right now, and I could have sworn we always did this during this time.
Outside of manually adding all 162 games for each team, is there really no work around for this? Could we create a new league or something and port this league into it and use the schedule at generation? It would be great for a way to do this during spring training. |

Yep, this - "this can only be done in the preseason" - is my experience and is the way OOTP works. Oddly, when the game auto-loads historical schedules, I'm pretty sure it does it when the game transitions to the offseason (typically, late October, right after the World Series ends and the game makes its changes for the upcoming season), but if the user wants to get a jump on things, it can't be done manually then; has to wait until preseason...
I don't know for sure why manually loading a schedule can't be done *during* Spring Training, but I'm guessing the game needs the schedule sooner so it knows how to map out the rest of the overall schedule - exactly when preseason & spring training start, and all of the roster-related things that happen based upon those dates. I'm not aware of any workaround other than the very tedious one you mentioned. I believe that if OOTP does not auto-load a schedule for the upcoming season and the user does not load one in the preseason, it will simply use the schedule from the previous season. Depending upon your perspective, that might be preferable to manually creating one, game by game. The only real downside is that - depending upon the specific file used - you might not have series' ending, for example, on Sundays... |
