If your game crashes when trying to play in 3D (Troubleshooting steps)
If you're having a crash when pressing 'play ball' (going into a 3d game), here are some troubleshooting steps.
1. This is usually a result of outdated video card drivers. So the first step is to close your game and update your video card drivers on your computer. Or, if you are on a Mac, update the Mac OS. 1b. It may also be helpful in some cases to go to settings > troubleshooting > force reinstall game data (or verify game files on Steam), so it's worth trying this too. 2. After doing that, try to play again. Hopefully this will be ok now and you'll be able to play. If the crash still happens, then follow the next steps. 3. Go to settings > 3d and first go to 'OpenGL Mode' and choose the option to 'Disable OpenGL'. 4. While you're in settings, also go to troubleshooting > trace mode and choose the option to 'write ootp debug info to file' 5. Restart the game and try again. 6. Very likely, you'll be able to play a game now, but in 2d mode. 7. So now, go back to settings > 3d, and look at the other OpenGL Mode options there. Try each one of them in turn to see if you can get into and play a game with 3d on. If so, then go with that setting. 8. If none of the options in steps 1-7 work, then please find the trace files that you've been generating through this process by going to settings > troubleshooting > open folder containing debug files. Zip up everything you have in that folder, and post it in a bug report in a separate thread on the forums here for us to check into.
