The World Baseball Classic is underway and while I was invited to run a few different teams, Canada was not one of them, so I am just observing.

Canada won their first game, 10-2 over Colombia.

Canada and Cuba are the only undefeated teams in Pool A.

USA and Venezuelan are undefeated after two games in Pools B and D, respectively.

Chinese Taipei leads Pool C with a 2-1 record.

Canada won their second game, beating Panama, 7-1.

At 2-0, Canada is the only undefeated team in Pool A.

Mexico and Italy have caught up to USA in Pool B and the Dominican Republic has caught up to Venezuela in Pool D. All are 2-0.

Pool C is the most interesting as Chinese Taipei has dropped to 2-2 while both Australia and Korea are 2-1.

Korea is the first team to clinch their pool, with a record of 3-1.

USA and Venezuela are both 3-0 while Canada and Italy are both 2-0.

Panama, Great Britain, Brazil, and Nicaragua are all officially eliminated.

Puerto Rico defeated Canada, 7-2.

USA finished their preliminary games at 4-0.

Venezuela is the only other undefeated team, at 3-0.

Czechia and the Netherlands have both joined the list of eliminated teams.

If Canada can beat Cuba in their last game they will move on the Quarter-finals.

If Cuba wins, there is a three-way tie for the 2nd spot in the pool, with Canada, Cuba, and Colombia.

It was Opening Day at the Rogers Centre and while it came down to the wire, the Jays could not get it done and lost, 4-3, to the Athletics.

WP - Weston Lombard (1-0)
Save - Jacob Lopez (1)
LP - Brandon Little (0-1)

Record - 0-1

Kevin Gausman kept them in it. Homeruns by George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. kept them even. But it was Daulton Varsho's RBI single in the 9th that gave the Jays a 5-4, walk off victory over the Athletics.

WP - Yariel Rodriguez (1-0)
LP - Jack Perkins (0-1)

Record - 1-1

Trey Yesavage struck out ten in five innings, setting the stage for homers by Daulton Varsho, Jesus Sanchez, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to send the Jays to a 6-2 win over the Athletics.

Alendro Kirk got his first his hit of the season, but hurt his foot on the bases. We don't know how serious it is.

WP - Tommy Nance (1-0)
LP - Jeffrey Springs (0-1)

Record - 2-1

Not only did Daulton Varsho hit his team leading 4th home run, but it came with two out in the 9th while the Jays trailed by one. It gave Toronto a 5-4, walk off win over the Rockies.

Spencer Miles, aka Spencer Kilometers, was seen going directly to the trainer's room after he left the game. We do not know what is going on.

WP - Cody Ponce (1-0)
LP - Brennan Bernadino (0-1)

Record - 3-2
