Who is creating players rating and train AI?

Because the game is always beautiful to play, but - already now, mid May - the value/rating of players (and subsequently of the results of your team in the competition - doesn’t have any consistency with the reality happening in real world MLB. E.g. Tampa Bay vs Boston Red Sox. It’s quite disappointing and make the game boring after a couple of months, being real MLB much more exciting. Why your developers aren’t thinking to some ‘correction’ and update during the season to make the game more realistic? Nobody pretends you know the future when you release the new edition, but with current tech there are plenty of ways to make updates. And to leave players to use those updates, or ignore.

Consider this: if, with OOTP, you simulate the 2026 season 1,000 times, you'll get a wide range of results. Some almost impossible results will happen. The Rockies might even win the World Series in one of those simulations. The Nationals might score the most runs (whoops, that's irl).

Reality is no different from the simulation. If we could re-run the season 1,000 times, it's unlikely we'd see the current standings very often. By all accounts, we are not living in the central timeline of possible 2026 MLB seasons. This is some fluky shizz.

So, comparing one OOTP simulation to this reality and calling the game broke is...broken thinking.

As has been said many times on these boards, once you advance a day, the league starts to become fictional. Speaking only for myself, I would find it a waste of time to play the game if I were to get the same results as in real life.

Couldn't you start a Live Start and then elect to update the player ratings?

I've never done it but that looks like the intent of the option.

Yep, it's different...

Yeah, it comes as a surprise to many newer OOTP players that the game does not work like Strat O Matic Baseball, where a player snapshot at the end of a given season is crunched down into a card with ranged results to be rolled against during the game.

I am not sure where Markus got the idea to create a different style of Baseball game where once you advanced the simulation, the "wound clock" starts ticking and no one knows just where it ends up. But it's pretty cool and once you embrace it OOTP has a wonderful draw, particularly for Fictional worlds.

Look, there are certainly a number of irritants present in OOTP, even after all these years. The Devs weren't helped by having to stop using leagues once getting sued became a concern by the new owners.
Personally, I don't play out games so the whole simulation of a game, graphics, animations, etc. don't really enter into my irritant "wheelhouse". To each his own, but I still maintain OOTP is pretty close to ideal at the end of the day.
Hopefully they can continue to improve the side cases, issues and general "feel" of OOTP each year.

It's worth getting to know the game, despite how it works. That's why so many of us stick around. I have stepped away now and then ('26 is an example) but come back.

Being from Germany I believe Markus said that sports management games were a big thing in Europe. I believe Football Manager (originally Championship Manager until legal issues had them change the name) was his inspiration.

As mentioned update the ratings.

Not sure what you're expecting. Even MLB The show or Madden or any other sports game needs updated rosters to reflect the current results.

Under league functions, you can update player ratings using live stats. In theory, using this every day would give you results closer to IRL.
