Cannot sim or play All Star Game
I'm in Career mode (it's the only league I have). According to the schedule, the All-Star Game is July 10. When I click on the League Schedule and go to that date, there are no links for Sim or Play. Instead appears the "pre-game" box for the game. Only "AL" and "NL" appear in the box.
I can, however, go past the date to the first day of the resumed regular schedule, which would be July 12, and sim a game. What makes this all even weirder is that for some reason - as you may have guessed - the dates used in the game don't match Real Life Dates. Today in real life is July 14. According to my OOTP5, it's Friday, July 6. Now, I know the problem of the empty rosters has been addressed here, but this is something else - I can't even access the All Star Game itself, as far as I can tell. But my sincerest apologies if this has been discussed here - I did look, but I wouldn't be surprised if I missed it. So, my questions are: 1. Is there a way to alter the "current" date so that it matches the real date? That is, Monday, July 14 should be the right date for today. (The date OOTP gives isn't even possible - there is no Friday, July 6, 2003.) 2. What am I missing regarding the All-Star Game? Shouldn't I see SIM and PLAY buttons? All of the teams are run by computer managers except mine. |

Sounds like you used a 3rd party scheduler and did not adjust the date of the all-star game.

Nope, haven't used anything other than what OOTP5 came with.

Have you simmed all of the days UP TO that date? Even the days that have no games scheduled need to be "simmed".

I haven't, but it's allowing me to play a game after the all star break without playing the all star game itself. Normally it would tell me that all games up to that point must be played or simmed (thereby preventing people from playing a September game in April, or something).
You know, it almost looks like the game is set up to not have an All-Star Game at all, since it's allowing me to basically skip over the game and resume the regular season. Is there a setting to enable or disable the All-Star Game that I may have inadvertantly changed? I found all the settings for the postseason and other league structure info, but not the ASG itself. |

I believe that there is within the edit schedule area.

In Edit Schedule, I can change the date that the ASG is on, but nothing else.
Wait, I can change the day on which the season begins, and by doing so at least the dates match. But the game feels today is July 6, when it's clearly not. .... a little while later ... Okay. I simmed the season up to the current date. You were right; that was the problem. I don't remember coming across it in earlier OOTPs, but I must have. The ASG now has a play/sim choice. Thanks, Steve! |
