Can't sim in historical league

I'm running into problems with the game crashing while playing a historical league. The game freezes as soon as I either start a game or try to simulate anything. It's also been freezing when I load up the manager screen. Everything seems to work fine with a regular league.

I'm using a Hewitt Packard, Windows XP. 256 MB ram with about 6 GB of free space. DirectX version 8.1. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try d/l direct X 9 and see if that helps.

Computer won't seem to let me. It says my system isn't compatible.

On my other computer that I have played the game, I had problems with the game crashing because I was using DirectX v9, and it worked fine once it was reverted back to 8.1

Are you trying to play w/ "in game sound" on?

Nope. I turned all the sound off, and even tried it with the 3D graphics off. Nothing worked.

You might try just uninstalling and reinstalling and see if that helps.

Tried that, too. Didn't work. Right now I'm trying to find some way to get DirectX 9.0 installed, but there could just be a problem with the computer. Thanks for your quick responses.
