sound??

i turned sound off a looooooong time ago because of all the problems it created for people, and i recently updated to windows XP, so i thought i'd give it a go. I turned on the in game and browser sound and i get nothing. I have tried decelereating my sound card per a search on here, and tried muting audio cd's as well. Before i had sound, no problem. Any ideas? I am not sure if this is my sound card or not: C Media Mixer? And i am not sure how to update drivers. I have other games, and the sound works fine. Running Direct X 9.

never mind, i figured it out, i had the sound turned off in the game configuration (the menu outside the game).
