We dropped our third straight game in a row. We're now 10-18 in 1 run games. Yuck. We had more baserunners (18-16), but Grafton was just better at getting them in. Grafton CF Henry McGee had two hits, including a 2-run single in the 6th. 3B Jeff McCann drove in two with a single in the 4th.

Baltimore (33-31) takes the first game of the three game series easily 13-3 from the New York Enforcers (23-41).

The Blue Claws scored 9 runs in the top of the 6th inning bringing 12 men to the plate.
The big blow was a 3 Run opposite field home run from CF Wilbert McCarthy (30 yr old).

McCarthy is starting to heat up. He now has 16 HR on the season to lead the team by far.

You can't blame New York Starter Norm...

Unfortunately, the All-Star break didn't help much. The Rangers are in the midst of a major teamwide slump. The bullpen has gone cold and the batting has been inconsistent, at best, leading to a 45-66 record.

"It's hard to believe we've fallen so far from how well we've started", said manager Riley Payton. "We've been humbled a bit. But I still believe in our guys and I ain't going anywhere. Time for the tough to get tougher."

Our offense is on vacation. SP Jim Lane held us to 1 run in 7 innings and got the win. SS Joey Dillard drove in Grafton's first run and their second scored on an error by our catcher. We had our chances, but couldn't get much done. 1B Phil Nolan came up with the bases loaded and two outs in the 3rd and 5th, but couldn't get it done.

Baltimore (32-31) completes the sweep against the Havana Pirates (34-29)

The Blue Craws continue to play well as they have now won 6 out of there last 7 games.

" 2-1 pitch to Havana's 3B Henry Calhoun and he pops it up to shallow right field, Arturo Amador glides in and firmly squeezes the ball with two hands and that will do it".
