Here is an image of Lenn Sakata now up for sale on eBay by Signatures4u - it was taken in 1979, so I don't know if you can use it. The image of Byron McLaughlin is my own creation based upon an image I believe I found on eBay some time ago - seller not recalled. Hope you can either or both. Is this your complete needs list? If so, there are several I would ask if you could share.

Saw these on your site and thanks for sharing! If I could find the original McLaughlin image that would be a real good find.

Long story short, your project is much more comprehensive than mine as I might go maybe 27-29 players deep for each team for any season. Again - cheers to yours - it's great!

Bombo Rivera, possessor of one of the best baseball names ever, was one of those guys whose careers started well and then rapidly petered out. Rivera hit .276 as a rookie for the Expos in 1976. His OBP wasn't great and he had little speed, but he slugged .411 and was a young player to watch. Rivera was traded to the Twins after that and had a pretty good year for Minnesota in 1978, hitting .271 as a platoon player against lefties with a good .362 OBP. Rivera was a popular player in the Twin Cities, but it became clear that he just didn't do enough things well enough to really stand out. His power and OBP went up and down and by 1980 he was hitting just .221 while sharing the Twins outfield bench with immortals like Dave Edwards and Willie Norwood. Rivera was with the Royals in 1982 but he got only 10 ABs and one hit during a critical and unsuccessful stretch drive by KC, and the Royals released him at the end of 1983 spring training. Similar players you may know include Chuck Tanner, Bruce Boisclair, Rich Coggins, and Bubba Morton. Rivera has long been a 1980s unicorn, and I am very happy to find him in a KC uniform.

I believe that Topps Vault has posted images of Bruno and Sakata in the 78 uniform; check BBdays.com. As for Fischlin. I'd love to see a better color shot myself. B&W Astros team shots of Mike can be found online; I have at least one of them and can post if desired. I have the 1979 Boston yearbook and will post what I can find for Ripley. I think that shows him in the red cap, not the blue. I would love a pic of Werner that can be reliably dated to his brief 1980 appearance.

Very possibly the most inexplicable White Whale of the '70s/early '80s. 70 games over five seasons - including all but two months with the '78 - with one of the most popular teams, which got the most media attention on the road and in spring training, and the only bona fide color shot of him in a Reds' uniform is on a corner of a Topps rookie card.

There wasn't even a file for him in the Topps photo archive (as always, this disclaimer: that doesn't mean the negatives don't exist, just that we play Vault Roulette waiting for them).

There is, however, a decent "cheat" to use until and unless an actual Reds/color image turns up. It's his 1979 Indianapolis Indians card and all parts of the uniform that don't match the Reds' home unis of the era have been happily obscured by the photographer. A little grainy from card-scanning, but it's better than a blank space.

Fyi...Best I can tell there are no TV images of Bruno with the Cards or Sakata in the '78 uni posted over at John's site, which I am a frequent visitor of. Thus reason I was hoping something had shaken loose outside of that. (And thanks again Dewey as your pic is new the bar for Lenn)
