This is a self-portrait of Bill Hoffer as he looked when he was pitching for the NL Baltimore Orioles in the mid-1890's. He was 83-years old when he penned this drawing. It appeared in the Des Moines Register on April 25, 1954.

Hey there Merkle and forum, with Jim's passing it brought to my mind a request. By chance does anyone have a color pic of Jim in his last year in MLB in '74 suiting up for the Cards - other than this one? Thanks!

That's it, so far anyway. Though I understand there's also a Brace portrait of Hickman that's even worse. You can always turn to that Topps 1961 spring training image of him. That's only four uniform styles out of date.

I've got 1971. This is according to the media guide. I'd have expected more spare arms--and there may have been--but this is what the media guide shows. And I hadn't realized that Jose Salado had been in camp (although I should have, given that he was a catcher and there are always extra catchers). Been looking for a solid Brewers image of Salado and, if he was in camp in '71, he may well still be lurking in the Topps Vault.

I put this graphic together several years ago after this question kept popping up. Hopefully it will be enough to walk you through the image posting process. Once you've done it a few times it will seem quite simple.
