The Braves broadcast is obviously biased, but states that Braves management and coaching staff are very upset with how last night was handled with the rain delay and postponement.
They state that the game officials and MLB told them that the game would start at 8:45 EST and then the tarp came back out with no explanation and they had Strider still warming up.
It seems there was a lot of confusion about that second delay and then postponement and they had Strider throw a lot of extra pitches to keep warm because they thought there was a chance the game would start.

They alluded that the Tigers were also upset with how the delays were handled.
Is that true?
I have no idea what went down but as part of the unwashed masses just trying to watch the game, I saw that they were all warming up around 7:30 / 7:45 so the expectation was that the tarps had been pulled and the game would be starting at some point (was a 6:40 original start time I believe).

This is what I thought as well. Then the broadcast switched over to poker and eventually I had to go to bed. So, I have no clue what happened.

I think MLB told both clubs the game would start at 8:45. So both teams began to warm up again and then the tarp came back out again. I think there was some miscommunication from the MLB league office that the game had truly been postponed.

And I do not know why I said EST earlier.
For some reason in my head, I always think of Detroit and Michigan as a midwestern place.
Which it is
But when I think midwestern I always assume central time when Detroit sits further east than Atlanta and other places you think of as eastern time zone.

I wonder what sort of pictures of Chris Ilitch Nick Maton has that he keeps batting fifth with a .160 average and a .591 OPS.

That was me, but the Twinkies broadcasters are similarly condescending about the Tigers' blighted lineup.

Nothing better than when condescending announcers have to eat crow. As for Maton, I at times wish real baseball had one pitch mode. Dude is great at running a count to 3-2, before the inevitable k or pop out.

Wentz is pitching treacherously well. When will the regression towards the mean start?

At least I learned - on the Twins broadcast; I always watch the home feed unless the Mets are on the road - about the Twins' first mascot from 1980, Twinkie the Loon. "It looked like a deranged crow", Dick Bremer said.

Google told me that he was not wrong.

I usually watch the away broadcast, hoping the reporter tool doesn't get to travel. Especially if the tool has a high pitch to it that peels paint. That big blonde for the Twins is the perfect example. I watched the Tiger broadcast Friday night, so had to watch Twins today, as there's no way on earth I can listen to Craig Monroe two games in a row.

Why did baseball teams decide we need a Shelly Smith type report every other inning involving he said she said crap? So annoying.

I enjoyed watching Wentz yesterday; really good performance. It seems like Brieske may be back on the roster this week and Skubal / Manning are close.

Fair point, but then there's the scenario where it's 3-3 in the bottom of the ninth and that scrawny shortstop wallops a walkoff homer over the fence and the home broadcast does their thing, but the road broadcast is like: "And that's Smith sending it high and deep and gone and I guess we go back to our hotel now. See ya at 7 tomorrow." Kinda bums you out.

I once boycotted all Cleveland Indian players in a AL only fantasy league, simply because their radio guy Tom Hamilton screams at the top of his lungs on routine popouts

That being said, I just found out last night that you can watch the game, but listen to the radio broadcasts. I am in heaven. This means no more useless reports by Shelly Smith like sideline reporters. No more having to turn the volume down to avoid hearing loss.

Now that Morris is gone, I don't mind any of the cast in the tv booth although I don't care for Todd Jones. I prefer when Gibby or Peaches are there but Monroe is ok.

I'm not a fan of Cam Maybin. And I couldn't stand it those two games where it was C-Mo, Peaches, and Jones in the seats near the bullpen.

That was pretty brutal without Dickerson

Maybin is awful. He clearly thinks he's being paid by the word. Just shut your mouth. Baseball isn't supposed to be noisy. Next question, why do you need a sideline reporter telling "he said" and then "he said" on the radio? Royals have Rex Hudler in their booth. Why do I know he has his baseball hat on backwards? Tool.

OT, but I'm wondering: are the Mets the only team to never have a female reporter? A few fill-ins now and then, but the official roster has been Chris Cotter (forgettable), the Birth of Burkhart, and Steve Gelbs spending a decade handling the Cult of Burky with wonderful good humor. Odd if they're the only ones, I suppose.

Nice game by Oslon. Not confident he'll pitch like that every game, but to have someone with that potential there is nice.

On a related note, looking at the injury report, there are a bunch on pitchers (mostly starters) coming back soon. It's going to be a challenge figuring out where everyone lands. Do Olson and Wentz get sent down for more seasoning? Does Boyd stay in the rotation, where he's so-so, or go to the pen, where he excelled last year?

I was really upset about losing the upside potential with Soto but these two guys have made me completely forget about all of that.
