Well, looks like I get my money back for the game 1 tickets I purchased in anticipation of a home game.

Hope you have equal excitement attending the home game against Toronto (or whomever it would be) next round.

Well, that ninth inning was something. Tigers get two leadoff walks and then can't get even one insurance run home, and then Jose Ramirez puts himself on third base with nobody out on a 3-base error between Baez and Torkelson. And then the Clevelands choke with a K, Ramirez running into a cruel out on a comebacker, and then a pop to short.

The MLB TV regime is weird during the playoffs (always, yet always different!). This year, they don't send international raccoons to silly clips, but I have to watch ALL the depressing lawyer and drug commercials (now I know why Americans are all a bit gaga) and then the feed is cut *literally* one second after Baez catches Kayfus' pop. NO CELEBRATIONS FOR YOU!!

Simply put, they needed a bounce to go their way this month. Great time for it to happen.

I will hold off for *now*, but I am ready to rant about removing Mize in the FOURTH.

Of a tied game.

What are they doing??

Everybody is so afraid of leaving a pitcher in for "one batter too long", not realizing that going to pen too soon has its own risks. I'm still trying to grasp Moron Mendoza pulling Sean Manaea with this starting pitcher line: 1.2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 2BB, 3K

It takes guts to go with your gut and leave a dominating pitcher in the game despite what the whiz kids say. Simply put, you go with the hot hand until your gut tells you otherwise. Most, if not all, of today's major league managers don't have those guts and prefer to hide behind the whiz kids. Witness my rant in the Yankees thread.

The wise fox says: your chances of winning increase when you do something other than strand eight runners in four consecutive innings.

...because otherwise the guy that spent two months in AAA this year and has 13 career home runs pops one over your head and into the cheap seats and now you have to put on pants again tomorrow...

And that person today is Troy Melton. Take out Mize, Holton, and Finnegan, all of whom were doing fine, to reach Melton because that's what the computer said to do.

While I wholeheartedly agree with this and the pitcher usage comments they should have never been in this spot. They left all of section 101 on base today. If someone can’t come up with a timely hit with multiple opportunities this is almost always the result.

It was right from the start. First inning, 2 on, no outs. Carp, Tork, and Greene all K.

My concern with Flaherty is he has been prone to one blow up inning this year. With a team allergic to runs that could be the nail.

All y'all need to do is one more game. You're good enough to win one more.

Now if you were the Mets… [/still bitter]

I'm rooting for the Tigers since we swept them earlier in the year.

Not only will there not be the run support to cover a standard early Flaherty blow up but what then? Montero (either one)?

That's my 53 years of Tigers pessimism speaking - Go Kitties
