J. Bodell (bodell001---) 1877

In 1877, a player identified as Bodell played in 26 games with the Janesville (WI) Mutuals. A teammate from that club, Frank Smith, identified Bodell in a series of articles about the history of baseball in Janesville published in the Janesville Weekly Gazette in 1905. He stated "You are all acquainted with the career of 'Bodell' otherwise known as Joseph B. Doe, who is now practicing law in Milwaukee."

After his baseball career, Joseph Bodwell Doe joined the Wisconsin National Guard. He advanced to the rank of captain before becoming the Adjutant General of Wisconsin. In 1893, he became an Assistant Secretary of War under President Grover Cleveland, a position he held until 1897.

Joseph was born in 1855 and died on October 19, 1925. The photo is from his Find-a-Grave site.

Here is a Wiki page on Joseph Doe: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Doe

The photo below is from the Finger Lakes Times of May 16, 1961. It shows DiCicco in the Waterloo (NY) Indians football uniform. The newspapers didn't show him in a baseball uniform.

[QUOTE=Cusick;5190137]Was able to find two photos of Grandy. Neither of them is a stellar shot. The first I think shows him in an Essex Community College uniform making a fielding play. It's from the Baltimore Evening Sun of January 10, 1974. The second shows him in a Midland, TX, uniform. It's from the Midland Reporter-Telegram of May 9, 1978. cleared up photos

For anyone who might be interested, I've been compiling links to career minor league player photos for a number of years. You can find them here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?gid=0#gid=0

The photo below is from the Brooklyn Eagle of Aug. 9, 1948. Russello would have been about age 28, and he was with a senior league team. He's #19 and making a tag on a runner. Looks like he is wearing catcher's paraphernalia, which fits one of the positions he played. It's the only photo I could find of him.
